I'm going to test the memory and cpu again to confirm there is no anomolies there and if not its rma time

It just came up with a message in the taskbar along the lines of 'your vga adapter has stopped working' and then bundles of artifacting goin' on.

I stupidly thought it could be a loose cable as I hadn't screwed them back in from the other day but that wouldn't cause it to crash.

A driver not responding would not cause that either.

No, but seriously, ram or cpu would not cause that. And they both memtested and prime 95'd perfectly just a few days ago. I ran both tests for several hours without any errors.

best i can recommend is to take the card out, completely clean it and make sure the slot is free of dust and debris before you reseat it

It's just that I've been testing folloiwng some real minor and very occasional artifcats the last 2-3 weeks or so. I've had the card out and reseated more than once already. I haven't dusted but the internals are spotless anyways. I'm just trying to think whether vista or bad driver would cause this??? But then I don't think that makes sense. I just always get scared they will refuse the rma. I'll email the screenshot to evga support and the reseller and let them take the lead. I've got an aftermarket cooler arriving monday for the card. Still. I might have to get a 4850 or 8800GTX while the RMA is going on so I can keep gaming. It could be my first visit to yoyotech coming up soon. I wonder if they have red carpet. I'll email 'the don' and see what he's sayin'

Yup. The artifacts are crystal clear too. It's for gaming mostly and for photoshop shortly (trial finishes tomorrow and new license begins Monday). Also videos and stuff.
