Be pleased you don't live in the uk mate... My local (and is among the cheapest) is £1.05p per liter (last time i filled up) and is increasing rapidly. so thats around £5.25p Per gallon..I'm sure the conversion rate between the $ to the pound is close to £2 to $1 the last time i was aware of..
And for the UK Fuel 80% (according to many reports) of that is simply TAX.... It currently cost me £50 to fill my tank.
And you are complaing... Just shows how the uk is sky high in everything we need to survive.

I was very fortunate but I had someone put the new tyres on the project LUPO and get the 1.4 litre engine turning over. It blew out some nasty odour and some smoke but the clattering ceased with a little 0-50w oil and a tweak or two by the mechanic. I took it round the block for a putt putt and opened her up gently on the A14, I think this motor will power this car but it is running much to rich. There are some things I have to learn about ignition timing and replace the wiring harnass that melted and solid state distributer I believe.
I found the wheel bearings in bad shape, brakes almost useless but a bit of banging and penetraing oil loosened things up quite a bit, perhaps all is not lost. The front discs are heavily worn and the organic pads will be eaten up soon enough, the drums need turning or replacing as well, they are desperately cracked and blue inside....
my God cars are interesting but this one will be a labour of love.

You must be kidding...May earn more,But the taxes always increase more than you earn..
Food bills has gone up 15% in less than a year.
And thats not to mention how ridiculous how the hosehold bills rise by...Heating/Electric/water.. all this goes towards a very poor service the uk provide for what you pay for.
Im self employed.Due to the tax rates.. i am now paying half a years tax (2009) in advance...Now you tell me how anyone knows that as it is only April 2008?
After the recent budget of this year the tax rate used to be 10 pence in every £...... that has now gone up to 20 pence in every £. (thats around another £200 minimum)
That has basically doubled the tax rate....
Move to the uk and you will soon see what i mean....
So please don't insult me by saying we earn more... what a joke that has turned out to be.The uk now lives on Taxes.
Don't take me wrong here im sure you feel the same way on your bills you pay for..(For my true meaning of where the money goes i won't say here)

I dont know about the rest of the world but in E. Anglia the earning power of the average middleclass Brit is less than a middleclass American in the U.S.
I had to come up with numbers to drive my bid on the contract here and after careful consideration by IBM and my company we found to our dismay that with the local taxes here the spending power for me would have been greatly reduced. Brits are taxed to death, thanx to Mr. Gordon Brown, but it is inevitable that while the pound is strong that the government targets the growing middle class. It is far easier to get on the property ladder in the U.S. than it is in the UK.
British citizens are getting hit heavily with stealth taxes. If your Norwegian or Danish or even Finnish you at least know where your taxes are going, here it is just to fill the coffers and keep the social programs running on a population that are accustomed to the government footing the bill, its a vicious circle I think.

I think the conservatives are in the lead now or something, the first thing david cameron needs to do is get taxes down, and right down if the uk's going to actually survive on what it makes.
Even i've noticed the shopping load last week was drastically smaller than it usually is :/

Busy scanning aerial photos of the location that the wife and I will be doing our first adventure race for this year.
Should be pretty good.
The bike trails are tough in this park and I have a feeling their going to make us go alllll the way out to that little island to get a check point on the paddle leg.
As for gas, yeah it sucks. It really sucks when you know that for those of us in the USA we could avoid the whole issue if the stupid Congress would just go on and approve drilling & refining in our own country. Gas would be down to $1 a gallon again for us. Makes me sick. I really wish we could have shorter term limits in both branches of the US Congress. What I REALLY wish is that we could somehow keep the legislators being being overly guided by special interest groups and PACs. I hate politics.
