Saturn's moon Titan may have oceans

Washington - Scientists examining the closest ever pictures of Saturn's moon Titan say they back up a theory it has oceans.

Radar images taken by the Cassini space probe reveal dark patches which could indicate liquid methane or ethane.

Scientists have theorised that the satellite may harbour hydrocarbon oceans and lakes.

The images also suggest that the surface of Titan could be shaped by strong winds.

"Titan is an extremely dynamic and active place, not only in its atmosphere but on its surface as well," said Jonathan Lunine, Cassini imaging scientist.

"We have seen evidence of atmospheric activity, possibly winds, moving material around."

Mystery also surrounds the composition of a cloud formation near Titan's south pole.

Scientists expected it to be made of methane. But the particles appear to be too big to be methane. - Sapa-dpa.

sorry thats all the info there is

That's good to know! Just think, this time next 100years, my decendants could be catching a wave on one of Titan's oceans (of methane or some other alkane maybe, but they probably won't light any cigs, hehe )

I'm sure they'll ride with nice little straps on or something. That way, they'll stay on the board and live to catch another wave.

There has been a lot of stellar activity recently, and Jupiter itself is being literally pulled apart by it's moons, while Saturn is becoming more and more active upon it's surface than it ever has been in recorded history. Something BIG is going down in our Solar System...hopefully I won't be alive to experience the bad parts.
