Yea when I heard about this it was both weird and concerning...but it is my belief that "brains in dishes" will not be flying airplanes. You loose so, so much.

The problem with the human brain is the stupid synapses between the neurons that force the brain to convert electrical stimuli into chemical stimuli, thereby wasting precious time.

I forsee a day where human brains will be fully electrical and create a voltage of as much as 50 volts instead of only around 5.
