What should I do ... this ones not being refunded... I shipped that card insured (even though he didn't opt or pay for it becouse I know better), it was supper packed and even double boxed! So I know it wasn't damaged in shipping.... The cards also under ATI's warrenty ....

My either he's really got a problems, is up to no good, or got and overclocked an killed it ....

He waited 14 hours to contact me...
he admits it worked when he recived it...

hmmm so that elimiated it being DOA (Dead On Arival)

Put up a bunch of guns, knifes, and grenades on ebay. In your reply to his email, kindly suggest that he "doesn't forget to check out all your other great auctions!"

Seriously though, if the card is under ATI's warranty then have him send it to them. Just make sure there's no legal issue with you transferring the warranty to him. It may be that you have to get the card again and ship it yourself.

It's not the nice thing to do but I'd start offering your used merchandise "as-is" on ebay. Once you ship it it should become the buyer's problem. Too many scam artists on ebay to be the nice guy.

edit: I read your ebay posting closer, looks like you're about to get into semantics with this guy over what DOA means. Unless you're a cunning linguist I predict that you're going to have another ebay headache or get some negative feedback.

reply to him...rma it with ati......if he does not accept this. it's obviously a scam.

going by the time scale he replied(i'd be very curious over this).as he said. it worked for 30 mins,it were working after he received the card.

as all items sold as second hand goods, unless you stated a form of guarantee..he does not have any comeback.

as i'd seen from you i'd trust you and providing you only have a very minimal negative feedback, this i would consider allowable. i'd know what i'd tell him.

fu**off...with you're attempted scam.

but at the end it's you're call.

Don't fall for that bullshit...he's either not satisfied with how the video card works and wants his money back, or he tried f*cking with it by over-clocking it, which led to the hardware fatality.

Give him the big F*CK YOU for me.

What I sent him...

Quote:

Sugestions

* Did you uninstall the old drivers or use a driver cleaner before installing the
drivers. If not be sure to... Also there are updated ones are avilable at the
ATI website...

*Where you sure you took proper precations to ensure that the card was not
damaged by ESD when you installed the card. If not you could of damaged
the card.

* Try removeing the card and reseating it...

* Try clearing the bios/CMOS

* Look for and updated bios some board require updateing for proper
compatabilty also some chipsets don't like/ have promlems with ati cards the
most natorius being SIS chipsets.

* Try running the card at 4x AGP, some boards based on (useally Via
chipsets) such as kt400/kt600 have issies with agp 8x

* Try the card in another system...

If all else fails:

ATI FQA
http://www.ati.com/support/faq/
Contact ATI Support
http://www.ati.com/support/contact.html

Contact ATI RMA department
http://www.ati.com/support/rma/index.html

(FYI: No receipt is required for RMA the card is warrentied for 3 years from
the date of manufacture)

Who wants to bet, this isn't over yet... I expect he is going to go I want a "refund" or "give me money off" or simular ... Wich at this point all I'm going to do is quote him the terms of the sale... wich he agreed into when buying/winning the item... My obligation of getting the card to him in a working and as advertised condition has been clearly met.

then you should be good to go he either mishandled the videocard or he overclocked it it to the point where it failed either way i doubt a videocard would just die 30 minutes into use. my theory

Buyer receives card
Buyer very excited
buyer doesnt rtfm
buyer OC'ed card thinking nothing could go wrong
buyer screwed.

EDIT: and that leaving feedback… doesn't sound like something a scammer would say

Neon Cowboy,

He could have that "boots the first time but won't boot again" problem I had when I first installed my card - and you did clearly meet your seller obligation. He would be wise to update his bios, or try setting his bios to 4x.

Orrr, heh, invite him here for help - if anyone can help him we all can - eh?

I think his card works if he didn't overclock it and fry it, he most likely just can't figure it out...

Edit: You know, I would likely be having the same problem if I had purchased the card from you a few months back, but knowing how excellent you are with hardware I would have had faith and worked to solve the problem - but I pretty well know what I'm doing - he may not as much...

so he had another card handy...

and if anything is wrong immedately contact the seller....

BTW:
Acording to the time code he left his feed back before he recived the item

1st off I used the card for a few mouths and had zero problems with it.
I packed it so well you couldn't of damaged it short of running over it with
a car . or it falling out of a plane @ 30,000 feet

There are to any ways to kill a card, for one ESD damage, over clocking, agp over voltage, volt mods, improperly installing a 3rd party cooler...

The biggest thing here is he can RMA the card to ATI if he thinks there is a problem. Accroding to the terms of the sale I should not even be haveing to deal with this

I think he's done something to kill it, if he didn't do anything to it then it works ... if something wrong and he didn't modify or overclock it ati will repair and / or replace it...

even if I wer to give refund which will not be done he'd have to ship me the card and wait... why not ship it to ati for RMA insted? Unless he's relised he could of gotten a 256mb ver or a 9700 pro for $30-$40 more then he paid.
something defanately up... or a generic non buuilt ati for less... No one made him buy it for that price he could of bid on it at the $79 start price insted of buying it outright @ $109+ship

Re: your edit I doubt you'd have any problems man, your not an ebayer thats screwed it up/ fried it, changed his mind, or is trying to pull a scam / fast one....

I have no/little doubt if I accepted the card back (wich all sale final i'm not doing it) that i'd find a dead card be it "mis flashed" "over heated" or physically damaged or modified in some way... or a card that dead and the labels are disturbed (you can heat them up with a hair dryier/heat gun they will peel right off clean a sticky can apply to another card easily). The other thing is people would go I'm not sending the cardback till I get a refund. YOu give them thier money back and guess what they have thier money, the card and you have nothing, good luck finding them and thier free email account i
is little to go by. Not to mention it would be hard to do anything legally...

I refuse to dick with it... I mean if he said the box looked damaged of
something I we would go the USPS insurace route but i'd asume it got there
in excellent condition. Like I said I packed it i specail penuts and bagging,
boxed, placed in another box within packing penuts... double boxed and
packed... so it wasn't hurt in shipping...

What He Said:
Quote:

I'd agure to him about static charges I could write about 10 pages on the topic of "ESD damage" couse affect... If he didn't take proper precations... I'm noot a noob I am sure this guy has no clue tothe extrant of my computer and techinal knowledge i'll make a quick note for those who don't know about it...

there are two damage types for ESD:

Cataistrofic:
Parts explode, componts fuse internally, internal shorts, instant electric death to part or all of a circut. Useally appear dead damaged the instant power is applied.

Degradation:
Parts paths/circut is damaged but partially operational, circut works for a unspecified period of time then fails. Any were from imedatly, to simply reduceing the life of a part.

It takes verry little to couse ESD damage... depending on what is effected just 12-20 volts
will couse damage

for referance the human body commlany bulds up about 1000 - 50,000 volts on any given day but it high voltage, low current (actually 0 untill it flows like when you tuch something and get shocked there was current for that moment), meaning you hardly feel it..... now if there are agrivateing factors like walking across a rug, a sweater etc... you can quickly build up a huge carge wich lead to a noticeable shock....

You feel a ESD shock @ about 20,000- 25,000 volts ...
You actually see a spark @ over 35,000 volts

now that i'm done blabbing

What I said in return:
Quote:

Well I'm not sure what to say thats not normal for a card to just "die on it's own" like that. The card worked fine for me and left me in a working condition (there are witnesses to that effect) . It apreantly wasn't damaged in shiping or you would of brought that up by now plus it was double packed / boxed. I bought insurace on it even though you didn't opt for it. Wich is odd especally on a item that expensive it's not normal for some one not to opt for insurace...

Acording to your own email: "It worked for about 30 minutes...then everything went wrong"

So that goes to you reciveing it in a working condition. I find it odd it took you aproxamatly 14 hours after you recived the item to actually contact me. Acording to the delivery confermation and the send time on your ebay message to me. People normally fire off an email the instant there is any signs of trouble.. That doesn't add up...

I'd like to remind you of the auction terms:

"Used items/fully tested/as-is/all sales final/garenteed not DOA/ No Warrenty from US, MFG Warrenty only (If applicable) "

As I said in my last email that the card is factory warentied by ATI for three years from the date of MFG. Unless you've; flashed it / modified it / overclocked it / or physically damaged it in some way / removed or alterd the warrenty labels.... Other wise if there is really something wrong with the card there should not be any problem RMAing the card to them for replacement or repair.

Sorry I can't be more helpfull and that your haveing trouble I've exusted my sugestions other then tell you once again to contact the manufacture for warrenty service / technical support.

This is getting really annoying I really want to click ignore user / block email but I can't least not yet... Next time he emails me i'm not going to bite my tounge and get more agressive / rude . He's trying my patience and i can only cut him so much slack...
