Been reading a few newspaper and internet articles, concerning the fact
that in the near future, there will be consumer level automobiles
that feature what is commonly referred to as "Adaptive Cruise Control".
"Honey...turn on the ACC, and learn to relax. You're more uptight
and obnoxious that Jesse Helms after a whiskey and Viagra milkshake."
A link to many explanations of how and what ACC is, how it works,
technically and how it's supposed to work to ease urban traffic
congestion can be jumped into here...

It doesn't take a whole lot of imagination to see where and
how far a system such as this could go. Automatic steering, braking, shifting....?
My question is, and is obviously intriguing here at a tech savvy site...
Would you trust and actually purchase and use a vehicle that in a sense
drives for you?
Remember...wouldn't be installing drivers...but trusting your very
life to the performance or possible non-performance of a computer chip
and 1.8 to 3 tons of sheet metal, rubber and glass.
