This movie featured a telephone/modem coupler and the first time a computer ever called a person.
This movie was directly responsible for the concept of wardialing and that's where the phreaking technique got its name.

Got another one:
"Have you ever stepped onto the road, and you turn and a car's almost on you? Something very strange happens. Your life doesn't flash before your eyes, 'cos you're too fuckin' scared to think - you just freeze... and pull a stupid face"

Yes. That's where the terms wardialing and wardriving etc all came from.
But really, the creators didn't know jack about computers and that was all artistic licence. It wasn't till years later that became a reality. The movie was really about cold war MAD mentality.
Awesome flick.

Yep, and here's another one:
"Personal note: When I was a little kid my mother told me not to stare into the sun. So once when I was six, I did. The doctors didn't know if my eyes would ever heal. I was terrified, alone in that darkness. Slowly daylight crept in through the bandages, and I could see, but something else had changed inside of me. That day I had my first headache"

an easy one but on of my favorites:
"I run my unit how I run my unit. You want to investigate me, roll the dice and take your chances. I eat breakfast 300 yard from 4000 Cubans who are trained to kill me, so don't think for one second that you can come down here, flash a badge, and make me nervous."

you would be right, and he is the son of a very famous actor as well, who starred in a classic, How green is my valley. I can still remember the movie, Caligula , he starred in that as well. his father played the "bookworm" in the old Batman series, now can you guess his name?...just for the heck of it, the director of Clockwork Orange passed away recently, but has many movies to his credit, including 2001 a space odyssey, and Full Metal Jacket, among others.
