What I'm doing this weekend

Blue Angels. My girlfriend's cousin is a member of the Blue Angels, maybe we will get some special privileges? I doubt it- but it's worth a try.

you guys know the united kindgom equivalent of the blue angels are the red arrows? I think both teams meet up quite often, both very cool indeed.

There is also a Canadian aerobatic team that fly very high performance prop planes that are very good- but I've never seen them. Can't remember the group's name either. I saw them on a few TV specials, I'll have to find some links to them too.
Maybe I won't be seeing them after all-

I live about 10 miles from our local airport - nothing more exciting that commercial 737s.
Once a year a free airshow is held in our neighbouring city and all the planes use our airport as it is the biggest airport nearby.
Most of the loud jets keep well away from the residential areas and fly out to sea before roaring away.
Just a week after the airshow was held, I was sitting at my pc when I heard an almighty roar - like nothing I had heard before. It was like thunder only louder and much more menacing. I dived out of my chair and opened the door only to see 4 black/grey smoke trails across the sky quite low down.
My neighbour had also dived out to take a look. We chatted for a minute or so and just as we were about to return to our daily chores, another huge roar, the 4 planes came flying past again with another 3-4 planes behind them on exactly the same flightpath as before - only about 200 feet up. And they weren't hanging around. What the hell they were doing flying that low and fast above my street is beyond me completely - I'm not joking when I say you could make out the shape of the pilots in their cockpits.
I'm pretty sure they were french mirage jets, but I cant be sure as I dont think they would have any reason to be up here other than the airshow - which I dont think they were at.
Very exciting to see them pass though.
