Just thought that I would post about this.
Earthquakes do not happen often in the UK, or at least earthquakes that can be felt that is. This link to the news story, http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm...atestheadlines The epicentre of the Quake which happened at about 00.54 this am was the city of Birmingham, about 17 miles from where I live. I had just retired to my pit, when loud rumble, coupled with building shaking, and ended with a tremendously loud crack sound. I could hear small debris falling which had obviously been loosened. I thought, WOW, went outside to join the neighbours, looked around could not see any visible damage, we all laughed, confirmed to each other that we had all heard the same thing, and toddled back of to bed. Now I am aware that many of you out there live in areas where a small earthquake like this is commonplace, the point is that here in the UK they are not, and boy was it a shock to the system. At least it gives a better understanding to news stories about earthquakes having experienced for the first time in my life a real one, and gives better insight to the fact that there aint no warning, it just happens. Anyways just thought I would post for your edification. Bill

I have felt two earth quakes here in Michigan over the past 20yrs or so.. very small but you could feel the ground shake as if a very heavy truck went past but it had a rolling rythm to it.. best description I can give.. both times it was confirmed on the news that we had indeed had a small quake..
