My new laptop
1.6GHz "Dothan" (2mb cache)
DVD+/-RW
13.3" "crystal" XGA
SD/MMC Card reader
64mb dedicated intel graphics
512mb ddr pc2700 (2.5-3-2-7)
60GB 5400rpm
It truly has astonishing battery life... and the weight of 1.7kg is unbeatable! The screen quality is so crisp... better than any tft I have seen before - and I have an LG L1710B back home! It's fast and plenty of storage space. Will probably re-boot it with XP Pro when I get home.
I don't really need it... but I am tempted to buy a second battery... 4.5->5 hours is good, but 9->10 hours is better
 \
Oh... and I'm in San Francisco now btw

what kind of thing are you looking for?
This one was very good value for money... it's very small and portable... 1.7kg! It cost $1750 + tax at Fry's
what do you want though? powerhouse desktop replacement or small are portable?

well... I can highly recommend this one for $1750... the model down is a 1.4GHz "Banias" Centrino (1mb cache) with 256mb ddr, a cdrw/dvdrom and a 40GB hard drive... that weighs in at $1500
It depends what your budget is.

 ROFL stupid sale guy!
.... when Mike and I were in Fry's the sales guy kept calling it a dolphin instead of a dothan.
It's not available in the UK apparently... it's 40GB, 1.5GHz, 256MB, CDRW/DVDROM little brother is though and that's selling for 1300GBP including VAT... and that was $1500.... so my $1750 laptop would probably be over 1500GBP if it were on sale in the uk.
As it is... the $1750+tax ($1894.38) translates into only 1052.43GBP... quite a difference!

yeah... 64mb dedicated doesn't even do it any favours... it gets around 3000 3dmark01 points! lmao - good job I didn't buy it to play games (except maybe the odd game of starcraft)!

yeah, not to mention not only did he not know what a Dothan was, he traversed the entire area asking his fellow workers whether the laptop had a Dolphin, and none of them knew Only when we asked him how much cache the chip had, did he give us the answer we seeked.
Fry's can be bad in that respect, incompetence. But it's still worth going there now and then.

The prices are worth the incompetance!
This laptop is cheaper in Fry's than it is on Newegg! Substantially!
