need a new TV
Well, my JVC AV20820 is dying...after over seven long years of service her tube is crapping out. Which is fine, I couldn't of asked more from a TV. So, anyway, I need a new TV. I won't be able to afford a new JVC this time around or anything huge... I'm looking for a replacement 20'' stereo TV. I don't have much to spend either, only about $120-140.
I've been looking at this Magnavox -- looks decent enough and I can afford it. I was wondering if anyone has this model and/or can vouch for Magnavox.
Feel free to list some recommendations -- keep in mind I live in the US.

I'm a bit worried about its horizontal resolution. 330 lines isn't much...

...not going to even consider the option of a computer projector... they go damn cheap now... good ones.. even some of the sonies.. they support EVERYTHING a tv has (use a set of speakers is needed... but hey, that ain't hard to get) .... alot of new projectors now come out with 1600x1200@32 bit color support... HDTV support.... Native HD resolutions .... amazing "dot pitch" (not sure what it is called).... zero flicker....and you can make them anywere from being a small screen.. or massive 50 or even 100 feet wise by 100...

Generally most people have at least a VCR sitting around..... for me.... $600 bucks for the cheapest.... 1000 for a decent.... and it just goes up from there for some options you don't need..... Tuner... the cheap ones have VGA/Composit/RCA in and sometimes have speakers to.....

i was going to get a Sony 86cm Widescreen FD trintron Wega TV High Definition 100Hz ( 1080i /720p/576p ) Sony link But im hearing that LCD screens & Plasma Screens,' are now takeing over the Market in my country,' By just looking in the stores and talking to sale's rep's ,' TV's are getting phased out , ' TV 's market is getting smaller & cheaper.
So i started looking at Plasma Screens, ' What i found out so far is that Plasma Screens last only 30,000 hour's 10-15-20 years depends on your veiwing time ( 10 hours per day =10 years life, say the factroy makers ) the prolbem is pixel's start to burn out on the screen (back spots).
One of the NEC High Definition Plasma Screen's 106cm $5595 i looked at was made in Japan, meaning better parts, ' some parts are coated in Gold for longer life, Now there's also' standerd Definition Plasma Screens for half the price, ' cheaper parts and not made in japan ." like LG mmmmmm.
The LCD screens are meant to be better TV veiwing than Plasma screens, said the sale's rep, I've not checked is out.
The LCD TV Screens come with a higher price tag, 75cmSharp S4798, 76cm Philips $4998.
Im wondering just how long before LCD technology pass's Plasma Screens,' things are starting to speed up in digital electronics.
I dont like Rear Projection widescreens for the home user, just look at the screen from a angle and you will see why. Rear Projection widescreens TV's 106cm are very cheap now
With Small portable TV's pick a good brand,' not a cheap'o',' because i have 2, ' with in 2-3 years you start to see that your veiwing not as good, ' and your' hard earned money down the hole

I don't have that kind of money...
My TV is almost completely dead now. The sound's dying too and the color's going as well. Only a matter of time before she's gone.

Dom,
Look at a Panasonic - I've always liked them for the best balance of price, performance, and great reliability.
Oh, guys, don't forget the cost of replacement lamps for those LCD projectors! They'll run you 250-400 every 2000 hours of operation!
Edit: Just looked at Best Buy, and if you want to take a bit of a chance with a Daewoo unit (Korean company - been around for over a decade now) - it is stereo with component video inputs (from a DVD player), flat tube, and lots of other features for 150 - free shipping! I didn't see a Panasonic there that fit your price range - you might find one at Sears actually...
Magnavox has never had very good picture quality (I was a factory authorized servicer for them and a lot of other brands, including Sony and Panasonic, for years).
