WTF do people just blindly hate Will Smith?

For example. If I, robot was stared by Samuel L Jackson, would it have got better reviews?

Yes. I'm starting to think so. In reviewers conclusions it seems to mention the big Will's name quite a bit. Also it as better then the big flop of the year (spiderman 2),but was so loved by all. The movie followed the comics yes, but you also have to remember the writing was lame and stunk back then.

There was nothing overtly lame about I robot. It followed the Asimov formula to how robots "turn" on humans. The story ark follows a nice rise in action and flows nicely into a quick end.

So, I'm doing the poll above.

I think Will Smith is a good actor... but basing a movie around Asimov's work was sadly bound for failure.

I think he's best suited for rolls like the badboys series and men in black. Action/Comedy...I find it hard to take him too serious after the fresh prince

i think hes too over the top...kinda like vin diesel in riddick when he says "land this" and rams them....that is retarded..i hate cliche crap like that in movies.

this movie wasnt really based on asimov's work, but another script that the movie company (forget which one) acquired earlier. they later acquired the rights to a film version of I, Robot..so they adopted teh name, and integrated a few points from asimov (like the 3 laws of robotics), but the story is largly from the other guy (dont know his name).

He, L.L. Cool J and Cuba Gooding Jr. just seem to drag movies down. All their characters are the same no matter how different the movies are. Samual L. Jackson, Denzel Washington and many supporting actors can play a wide variety of characters - talented acting vs. type-casting.

I haven't seen 'I, Robot' yet, but Will Smith is a good actor. One of my favorite all time Sci-fi flicks was MiB - He's great in that movie. He's hilarious.

When an actor/actress sucks, all I can think about when watching them is their acting, and how bad their acting is, and the fact that I'm thinking about their acting, and not the movie.. That is my gauge when it comes to if a person can act or not.. Most every "little kid actor" is like that, because of course they are too young to pull it off, no matter how cute they are.

Will Smith never makes me think about his acting ability while I'm watching one of his movies, I'm usually thinking about the movie (or how bad or good it is), or the directing (or how bad it sucks), or something else, not his acting. There are some top-rated actor/actresses that aren't any where near the actor he is, and people seem to think they're all great.

alot falls on the dirctor ... but then again some thing are free sytle and up to the actor to properly portay if a movie fails/sucks you have both to blame

i dont hate him, i just dont think is his kind of movie (independence day is an exception), actually i like many of his movies ^^ but dunno didnt saw him like in the i robot, maybe i should see that movie to chnage my mind ^^

i find that Will Smith is just a great actor.. One of the best black ones... He's got style, he's cool and good! I love him in all his movies!!
