Need a low -mid end Vid card
Whats a good low-midend vid card for a retired MD who's not gonna play many games I'm thinking? If Video in is there thats ok cause he's smart enough he might use it in the future but not right now. Is the FX5200 any good?

I'm looking for the most stability really as far as drivers go so I'm looking at Nvidia cause I don't want him to fight with driver updates if ever, mostly surfing and word apps yeah.

I'd recommend the extra £10 for a 5500 myself

Go for a 5500/5700. That will be stable and handle high resolutions. He could play some games. like RTCW. Maybe even newer ones. Doom 3 on lowest settings.

DH's Low End Review
As for driver updates. All you need to do is just install the latest Catalyst once and that's all. It's not like you need to update for Apps and web surfing.

Yeah..
The 9550 is a great deal. If you can get 128 Bit version that would be sexy
9550 New Egg Results
As you can see, the difference between prices is marginal.

Get ATIs 9550. no style posted a link to it, nothing to touch it for the price - especially considering the 2D IQ is as high as the X800 series, 400mhz dac.

I was looking at that 9550, I'm frankly afraid of ATI drivers for people who don't know what they're doing. Although, for standard stuff it's probably not a problem like No-Style said. Neon I'd like to keep it around 50 bucks US, 65 the top.
