Maximum PC - hardware
PC Gamer - games
Your situation sounds almost as bad as at Convergys in St. Louis. Unless you work with a bunch of fat smelly 'failed in life' morons who work there as a trained level-one phone monkey cause they 'know sumpin bout dem com-puters.'

well...i didnt think about the bandwith thing...i think it's more about them not wanting to ignore customers...think it's too much of a distraction. but...the bandwith is a good point, because the bank has always had a t1 line...but, they just put in a VoIP system (which i had recommended my dad look at about a year ago) and they havent gotten another t1 line yet (they are getting another one to be dedicated for the phones). right now, i might have to go buy those at the newstands...but ill subscribe soon. i like hardware

If they're worried about security, then they should be VERY worried, as if the security is so poor that it copuld be compromised that way, I sure as hell wouldn't want to have any money with that bank.
If you are operating in an "on call" manner, then perhaps the best resolution would be a standby/recreation area, with internet allowed, but protected from the rest of the network.
If you have something else you should be doing, why have you been wasting time on the Internet, your dad should fire YOU!

I guess I'm just "old school" as well. The computers and your time belong to them while you're there - is likely their attitude - and they are seemingly applying the "rules" to others as much as to you so they sound fair - if restrictive (the boss no doubt has her reasons...).
Two words - yes ma'am.

if you get that bored between seeing customers, you can buy my old ipaq - you can play some tremendous games or read books on it and keep an excel spreadsheet open in the background so you look like you're working when you're really killing time

I myself was almost stoped from coming to this site from work BUT because I am in the IT department & they partially consider DH a tech site I am saved. Plus it helps to have friends on the security team who monitor the Web proxy.

you aint kiddin' bro.
try spending your whole day swapping out base units which are built remotely and take an hour and a half to complete.
because of this, I now consider myself a solitaire guru
