Harry Potter vs Chronicles of Riddick
Saw both movies back to back this weekend with my son, and I actually preferred the Harry Potter movie on substence alone. Both movies were filled with action and special effects, but I have to say that the Potter movie was thrilling, I cannot honestly say the Riddick movie kept me suspended..lol.
How do you all feel?

The Chronicles of Riddick.
If I wanted to see some little British fairy run around with a stick, I would just watch Craig's home movies.

I thought both movies were well enjoyed.. but to tell you the truth.... Riddick is the FIRST movie i've ever seen at a theater AND considered paying full price again to see it again in the theater..... I was Very impressed.... it might help if you had watched Pitch Black...

I haven't seen Harry yet -doubt I will before it comes to DVD- but Riddick was great IMO. I made the choice at the theater and was not dissapointed with the outcome.

i dont like the potters...and riddick was just ok. his acting was horrible (as usual) and parts of the story are uncreative and cliche..."Land this" tee hee! or how about "necromonger"..it's so very unoriginal. "hey, lets combine two latin/greek stems, and make a word!" necro=death, monger=push/promote.

lol, its not that bad. Battlefield Earth was just...DAMN. Probably the only movie that really made me feel like I actually wasted my life watching it

As Dom so colorfull put it..Why would i wanna see a little British fairy run around with stick?? No seriously....Riddick no competition at all!!

Pitch Black was great - seemed like an action movie set in an Issac Asimov story. I haven't seen Chronicles of Riddick yet, but will take girlfriend to see it this weekend. Didn't see any of the Harry Potter movies.
I would like to know if people consider Chronicles of Riddick to be a Science Fiction movie like Pitch Black or more of a action-oriented fantasy movie.
By fantasy, I mean Hollywood's retarded view of science - like the movie about cloning where the killed boy's otherwise perfectly cloned cell is subverted by the extra cell juice added by the doctor which contains his dead child's entire memory.
BTW - Battlefield Earth previews made me sick. I later rented the movie and gave up less than half way through to return it. Bastards (including John Travolta who had to be *seen*) took one of the best books I've ever read and trashed it utterly. Rotten Hollywood bastards. Now no one can make a trilogy on the book (1050 pages - too long for one movie) due to the stigma left by this one.

I kinda though Pitch Black sucked, but that's just me. Riddick was cool though, an identifiable vilian.
