I thought Chrysler owned Mercedes, but they gave Mercedes power over what Mercedes parts Chrysler uses in their cars.. For instance the Chrysler Crossfire is more Mercedes parts than original Chrysler parts..
http://www.caranddriver.com/article....rticle_id=8116
"After all, there's not much wrong with the proposition of an Austrian-built convertible with distinctive styling and the mechanical underpinnings of a Mercedes-Benz SLK beneath the surface. Especially at a price about 10 grand cheaper than the Mercedes original. "

@ GM/GMC owns;
Ford/Mercury/Lincoln
no- GM doesn'town Ford.. if that's what you meant..

"In 1998, German-based Daimler-Benz, which owns Mercedes-Benz, merged with Chrysler to form DaimlerChrysler. The wisdom of this huge international merger was questioned by many, though Chrysler and Mercedes-Benz vehicles remain separate entities."
http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/histo...6/article.html
I also read-
Ford owns:
Land Rover, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Volvo
EDIT-
I also think that Fiat owns Ferrari and Maserati, but GM owns 20% of Fiat... Have to find links for that.
------
Presently, Fiat owns Ferrari, and incredible sports cars, such as the 360 Modena, still roll out of Maranello.
http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/histo...2/article.html
------
2000: Fiat Auto owns the Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Lancia brands. Fiat Auto is 20% owned by GM, 80% by Fiat Group. Fiat Group owns Ferrari, Maserati, Iveco, New Holland and Case agricultural equipment.
I'll find up tp date links.

It's amazing, pretty soon every car manufacturer will own "a percentage" of every other car manufacturer- Either that or they will all eventually be owned by one big monopolistic car company.

Yeah I was wondering about that too- I figured he meant it was a merger of sorts- but not sure.
I did know that Nissans were French for a while now though.

Currently, AM General produces the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV pronounced HUMVEE ®) and the HUMMER®. In addition, General Engine Products Inc. (GEP), a wholly owned subsidiary of AM General Corporation, produces OEM 6.5litre diesel engines, both naturally aspirated and turbo-charged, used in military, automotive, marine and various other industrial and commercial applications.
Also a good history HERE that covers, Willy's, AMC, Studebaker, and many more. The thing that gets me is that most of these companies were bought by Chrysler Corp, yet the Hummer Dealerships are owned by GM......
Not finding anything on it though.
