I think it was a clip from a wildlife program I saw, but a different voiceover.
The one I saw had two different scenarios....
The European (imported) honey bees, where the defenders line up for the slaughter.
The native bees, with an effective defence - they don't sting the hornet scout, but they engulf it, and then generate heat by buzzing - the hornet dies at a temperature a couple of degrees lower than the maximum they can survive.

Bees have a barbed sting which is connected to their stomach. When they sting you they usually only do it when they are threatened because once they do, their stomach pumps acid (the poison) into your skin but this also kills the bee.
Wasps arent bees - they are a different flying insect. They dont have a barbed sting and so they dont die when they sting you. Wasps are also drunks. They love nothing more to sit and gorge on rotten apples in summer. The apple ferments in their stomachs and they litteraly get drunk.
Wasps are quite aggressive and so once they've been on the booze, they will happilly go around stinging the sh*t out of whatever they can find (humans are usually an easy target), for fun.

your not kidding.hate the f*****g things.
Wasps are more predatory type of insects.hence the smooth sting they have.

Id like to take on those wasps rather than bees, at least I could kill those giant wasps, the bees would just keep coming.

wasps are 100 times worse than a bee (for the reasons described above) and a wasp sting is alot worse pain wise than a bee sting.
As for thoes giant hornets...all i can say is DAMN! glad we dont have any hornets here in Aus!
