JJohnson, maybe not much flooding but way too many earthquakes, I just read this too on UnknownCountry.com
California Quake Predicted for September
In May, there will be a TV miniseries about a devastating quake in California that scientists say is too extreme to be real. But a U.S. geophysicist says a major earthquake will hit southern California by September 5th.
Vladimir Keilis-Borok has developed a way of predicting earthquakes by tracking miniquakes, that often cannot even be felt. Using this method, he predicts that California will experience a 6.4 quake in September. He accurately predicted a 6.5 quake in Central California last December and an 8.1 quake in Japan last September. He says, "Earthquake prediction is called the Holy Grail of earthquake science, and has been considered impossible by many scientists. It is not impossible. We have made a major breakthrough, discovering the possibility of making predictions months ahead of time, instead of years, as in previously known methods."
Seismologist Nancy Sauer says, "Even two years back it was practically a dirty word to say earthquake prediction."
He predicts the quake will hit an area that stretches across desert regions to the east of Los Angeles, home to around nine million people, including the Mojave desert and the resort town of Palm Springs, which lies near the San Andreas fault. An earthquake on the southern San Andreas of a magnitude of 7.5 or larger could kill thousands of people in the greater Los Angeles area and cause damage estimated in the tens of billions of dollars.
Seismologist Ray Weldon's data backs up Keilis-Borok's research, but he says, "…I don't lend any insight or support to a window of time."
Here's another disaster waiting to happen: Lab 257. This book blows the lid off the stunning true nature and checkered history of Plum Island. It shows that the seemingly bucolic island on the edge of the largest population center in the United States is a ticking biological time bomb that none of us can safely ignore.

I'm up here in grand rapids, michigan. We got hit with the storms a few days ago and they were torrentous, but fortunately we were not hit with flooding as storms like that are common over here (horray for lake effect).
Kind of surprised it made it down to you guys but man it was some nasty weather I could not see my truck from the front door of my house 100 feet away it was raining that hard an dlightning was everywhere. It was such beautiful destructive power it was awe inspiring.
Right now we have some sporadic showers nothing major today although yesterday we had 2 rainstorms one about midday and one around midnight but they only lasted for about 20 minutes each but the lightning showers were NASTY.
Aside from that looking out the window right now the sun is up and the ground is dry albeit it is a bit windy.

Today is nice but kinda cold, I'm not real sure what the weather is going to be doing but it's probably not going to be good. I've just read the Pentagon report on sudden Climate change and it does not look nice. You can find it here - http://www.ems.org/climate/pentagon_climatechange.pdf. Unfortunately It looks like we can expect more of the same and worse in the coming yr or so. And if I'm reading this correctly this is Tornado warning 259 for this yr alone. http://www.wunderground.com/US/OH/001.html
