I'm not sure if anyone's realized this, but a lot of computer geeks like myself, haven't a clue about cars.

This goes for any guy in general.

Do you feel really, really dumb for not knowing about cars?

The best is when my mother tells me about things in the engine, and I haven't a clue what she's talking about.

Oh, I gotta get the new break fluid. After that, the new belt has to be put on.

And I'm sitting there, I haven't a clue what she's talking about, but I just nod my head.

I feel as though next she's going to ask me to "beam her up" or something.

The best is when you go to an autobody shop, and the guy's examining your car, and he goes

So, what's wrong with the car?

you may not know about cars, but you have common sense. If you knew what was wrong, why the hell would you bring it to a mechanic?!

Or here's my favorite. Because you haven't a clue about cars, they ask you to tell you what kind of noise it's making. Now you being an intellectual, a person who finds entertainment in debating and educating yourself has now been forced to make screeching noises like an imbecile.

Oh yeah, when I hit the break, it makes a noise like this: ERRRREEEHHHHHCCCHHHHHHHHHH!!!

What about Nascar? You're watching people drive around in circles 200 times, and the race is over. They go over to the winner and you're all pumped. You're happy to see Jeff Gordon win. Then they go up to interview him.

They ask him "So Jeff, how did you feel about this race?"

Now, everything is fine, you're following along, nothing bad, right? He's just going to explain how he felt winning, no sweat!

Then he says :

Oh well as I was coming around the last lap I noticed my breaks were goin' and the rectorlator belt was surley buring and then my steering wheel was very hard. So I realized if I wasn't gonna make it another lap I'd haffta shut it down afterwards without making a pit stop to.

Now your brain has headed into a coma, you've realized you don't have the slightest clue as to what the hell he's just said. You're starting to think he's speaking some Star Trek language. He's speaking faster as he's going along too.

And the sad part is, the diehard fans around you are goin' "Oh yeah, that's right...good thinkin' Jeff!"

So to not look like an idiot, you go "Well..of course he'd have to do that, everyone knows that!"

Does anyone else share this common fear? The fear of being uneducated about cars because you really have no desire to learn about them?

I myself am going to have to force myself to learn this.


P.S. I'm drinking a lot of coffee, it's another one of those rambling posts.

Does it turn you on (not sexually) when a girl likes video games and your same type of music?

I listen to very underground music, "loud" if you will. So that's always a plus when women enjoy it.

I haven't a clue what that is. The most underground industrial/techno stuff I've listened to has to be Hansel und Gretel, Das Ich, and some other group.

I don't know a huge amount of cars.... but I know some simple things.... like what the belt is.... the point of brake fluid.... what 1bhp is equivalent to etc...

I know a little about cars as it's intresting for me, i'am into bhp and torque alot, I could probably tell you how much most of BMW bhp has and the same goes for Audi. And I also watch Formula 1 and also Motor programs on the TV.

I actually don't know where to begin, what exactly do you want to know. As I mentioned above I know a little about cars, mostly performance things.

I'm 19, never had a desire to drive, as I've never really had instances where driving was required.

Also, the only reason I want a car is so I can blast my music and just drive around.

Also, I had the chance to get a car, I picked a pc over it. This pc I own was $2,500 at the time of purchase.

Giving the fact that I also have another $2,000 saved up, I could have easily obtained a loan while I had a job at the time.

I somewhat regret it, while at the same time I don't.

Well that depends, if you have an Audi S4 with V8 & Twin Turbos 350 BHP & a torque that is out of this world I would much rather have that than any other car. Why?? Because it's descrete raw power in a station wagon. Who is going to know that when you stop at the traffic light??

Don't worry, I care about them. I wash my car on a regular base and keep it in perfect shape, it's like my child, well second child that is.

ima car freak, love imports, american muscle cars and large SUVs (escalades and suburbans).

and of course the latest and greatest sports and luxury cars.

i think its important to know a variety besides computers and entertainment and your studies to have a normal social life.
