Power VR chips are so much more interesting then ATi or Nvidia, there technology isn't bandwidth but how to reduce it and still have the speed by finding hidden pixels and not drawing them, if ATi or Nvidai were as good at it as PowerVR there would be a leap of about 20-50% in FPS from what I understand

There not some fly by night company they make alot of parts for Arcade games not for desktops, there worth probably more then ATi or Nvidia is willing to pay and they have the liscense for that tech, and NO ONE can use it without there permission atleast if I rmeber right from talking with that 3DFX engineer back in the day

not possible.... PowerVR's worth is quite a bit... pretty well ever arcade machine that has good preformance and graphics... is gauranteed to be PVR tech running in it..... They are amazing..

Big Brown.. lol.... not the case...

Kyro 2 was a very nice leap forward and still pushes some rather impressive numbers.... those that had successfully modded there kyro 2's to run with 4x agp enabled so that they can put it in new mobo's.... are very pleased.. sure.. it's getting dated... but it's pushing numbers much better then any GTS or Geforce 4 MX card out there with current games..... of course... the only sad part is the lack of TnL support.....

seriously.. those with a hercules 4500 64mb agp... mem and core clocked at 175mhz.... and the specs on the card are barbarically brutal.... Tnt orginal anyone?... yet the power of it isn't relised till you see it in action...

Anisitropic filtering is the falling point... it wasn't a nessity at the time... mearly having support for it was enough.... most if not all of the last reviews that included the card... had Anisotropic filtering enabled..... meaning terrible results... you CAN'T look at those results and get a bases....

Look at Andantecs own review.... and that was using the first immature release of the drivers..... they went a long ways..

PLUS... PVR is the first to really get a working 3D Profiler that works... yes.. perfectly... no a single bug.... all the options at your fingertips..... i and other that have moved on from such hardware.... really miss that.. i know Hawk would agree.....

Only thing Hercules did wrong... they put an unreliable fan on the card...

think of it like this..... if the s5 had the same specs as the nv 6800..... and just considering the TBDR being included.... think 2-4x faster instantly...... (and when you start including PVR's own new technologies... expect the image quality.... features.. support.. you name it to meet right up with.. and even surpass ATI)

(However.. major BASICS there though)

I looked them up
PowerVR is a subsidary/part of of Imagination Technologies Ltd in the UK

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=IGNMF.PK&d=t

this pink stock not even, OTC, not even nasdaq again yet they have arently been at under a $1 a share for a very long time ... a strugglieng company lacking alot of investors

even if and that a big IF .. they have something to bring to the table and they havn't been bought up yet is most likely not the price but the astounding amount of debt they would most likely buy into along with it...

I'd guess this to be another s3, or volari like comany offering features but lack the power of the big brand cards if not I should be buying shares

where can raed read up on this small co?

HAVE YOU EVEN been to http://www.powervr.com/
????

hell there earlier cards had your name on em.. .. Neon 250 hehe (which were coupled together with a few of em and a full blown TnL unit used for arcades)....

i'll lose a good chunk of faith in S5 when June rolls by..... then we can't expect anything for at least 6 months.. and more likely another year.. possibly 2

As for explaining what PVR is.... i posted a crapload of stuff for Neon.... hope he reads into and is plesently serprised... or at least it gets his attention

Consider this. PVR powered the dreamcast and that system was very powerful for it's time. Dispite the PS2 hype, they were pretty much even in graphics power.

As the ex owner of a PS/2 and DC they were not even in graphics power.
Not even close

DC had way better graphics. I would even go as far to say it's more powerful than the GC.
However, xBox rulez

In reality, the Xbox is the most powerful. Gamecube is the next and then it is the PS2 w/ DC pretty much tied with it. If anyone remembers Resident Evil: Code Veronica for the DC and how amazing that game was when it was first played knows what I am talking about here. And how about Shenmue when it first came out for DC. Amazing graphically if not boring waiting for 2 days for an appointed time to take place. Blah.
