Blue, Bubbles, and Boomer.
BluePheonix is our mainbox & preffered internet cruiser. She used to be just "Blue", but then again she started out as a PII350 64MB Expert98. I had to add 'Pheonix' after a few upgrades 'cause it was just like she was reborn. (1.4 celery @ 1.666, 512MB, 8500 ) Bubbles is my gamer that's my first full home-built, and Boomer is my son's new pc.

You guys serious?
Hmm... I thought I was quite a nerd, and then I found people who actually name their computers. No offence intended.
I guess I've always typed in Kone (finnish for machine) in the dialog box during windows installation. It's neither a pet or a friend, as I prefer the live kind. Just a tool, and I never thought of naming my screwdriver either... My other rig is also Kone, but they never get mixed up

I've always personified my tools & equipment that I like, it just somehow seems natural. I don't see how you can look at your box like just some hunk of machinery, the sum of a computer together and running is just so much greater than that of the pile of inanimate objects it is created out of.
I'm not arguing that the pc has consciousness or not, just trying to explain why I tend to look at them as more than just "a computer".
Although a lot of boxes I've worked on have just been "computers", but that's 'cause their owners didn't put no love into them.

I don't think my girlfriend would approve of me sticking my "love" into the computer... She's got a personal interest, you know

Well my computer name on the network is USPC for UpStairs Personal Computer I think it's self explanitory. However when I get my modded case with window and cathodes in alu or jet black, I may find a better name.

My machines go by the network name of their main OS. There's nothing personnal between the seven of us , but it's always easier to refer to a machine w/ a short name than it's hardware description.
ENTERPRISE is my main rig
SOVEREIGN is the rig I use for everything related to video capture/editing
EXCELSIOR is my server and internet gateway
PROMETHEUS is the rig I put back together for my parents
VOYAGER is that old laptop of mine (with a crappy screen though)
OBERTH is a legacy P166 which is scheduled for refit to Win98/DOS very soon
Also SOVEREIGN and EXCELSIOR are acting as primary and secondary DNS servers for my internal zone which is called... starfleet.net
