I've got another one for you .......

How do we know that we all see colours the same? For example what I see as blue might be green to somebody else and visa versa. Who decided that red is red ? How do you describe a colour to sombody ?

Here's one: will you be alive 1 second from now? how about 1 second after that? How do you know that tomorrow is really coming? You can't force it to come... maybe this time, it won't come .... Is there anything you're anticipating very much? If so, how do you know it will happen?........................................... .............................It might sound weird, but sometimes when I'm on the bus, I get the strangest thoughts in my mind about whether I'll ever get home or if I just think I'll get home ............................ (ignore what I just said )

WHERE DOES SPACE END ????
Hmmm, to follow some basic thoughts, it has not either a beginning point, nor an ending one... Thinking 'bout the Big Bang really puts up an another issue, being: and just what was before that?!
Anyway, space is always in a state of expanding and collapsing, so whether there's an end, no one can define...

Technically we don't

Its quite simple really

1) You are presented with a colour
2) There is a word underneath it which names the colour

In exactly the same way someone decided that a cow is a cow. Its just a name

How to describe a colour to someone? Well, the background around this forum is a grey blue

...and I, for one, find it even harder to believe that there was absolutely NOTHING before the 'bang'?!?!

Come to think of it, I'm certain (for out existance at least) that there is def. something 'higher' than us, and that we've been put on this planet, nothing like Darwin's theory of us actually evolving... It's remotely intelligent to think that we 'evolved' from monkeys (apes)

Anyway, I feel like someone's science project... how 'bout you?

Its very hard for the human mind to picture infinity.

But it becomes simple when you think of a tea cake

(appologies to HitchHikers fans)

You would have to read the Restaraunt at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams to appreciate it.

It's the 2nd book in the HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy series

If you've never read them, then you really ought to as you're missing out big style!

I read somewhere that the rate of expansion of the universe is slowing down and that in the distant future it will contract, something like the 'Big Bang' in reverse. As for space having no end, it is much easier to accept this than trying to imagine a definate end. I always think that if you carried on in a straight line maybe you would end up where you started, but then I really start to get confused.

Well, it is slowing down, and coming on to a 'contracting' movement, but this is not definite; space is known for it's chaotic nature, it may for some time expand, and the next few (hundred, thousand, whatever) years it may contract... It's all in the dark matter which contains some particles (yup, space is not just plain vacuum) which are responsible for such gravimetric forces, or for the space's nature...

Hmmm, don't you think it's the same when you think about space as being endless and, on the other hand, thinking it has end, but it really doesn't... Making sense?

The theory 'bout common point in space is well know (can't recall the theorist's name), but as there is no proof on whether space follows any known patterns to us (being a circle, or whatever), there is no sense in actually trying to calculate how long it would take to start from this one point and return to it, following a straight line (it's also dependant on us not knowing the size of the universe, not even the known one...)...
