This "Need Doctors Note" for work CRAP?
Here's the deal.... were i work... seeing as it's BK.... i've been TOLD and i completely understand THAT if you are at all feeling ill.... to not bother coming in..... And if your sick and still show up... you could be terminated.... makes sence? yeppers... no problems there
But what's this? I have to still drive to a doctor..... have him check me over... and then write up a note stateing i'm sick... drive all the way to BK and drop it off...??? now considered.... i'm in no position to drive, being that i might be running a high fever.... my eyes glazed over and to top it off... i can't judge distance let alone my preseption is complete out of wack...... even though i live in canada and medical is payed through taxes... in no way am i going to waist my money on something obvious.... yet none life threating just to see a doctor.... waist my gas.. my time... his time.... for this BS? and we wonder why our medical is really having a hard time.... abuse.. .and our employers are forcing it...
Anyways.. what do you think?

nope, I work for myself. If I dont feel good I just dont work that day. (But I try to make up for it the next day by spending a few extra hours on custom builds)
You really should try it, its only hard in the beginning. After you get your name out there its easy.

i hate when that happens man
school i had the same problem. i went to the hospital last spring cause i had serious stomach problems for nearly a month. i was in and out of school. exams came i did one got sick then went back the next week showing my previous doctors notes, hospital notes and nowadays our "free" healthcare charges money for the notes so i spent 25 bucks on 2 of them and the other 2 we free. i did my other exams missed my math exam cause i was sick for it, when my mark comes its a 29 wtf is that. told my vp, my vp is a beotch doesnt wanna do anything says the teacher seems that its fair since i missed so much she cant omit so much. wouldnt give me a fair mark for summer school. so what did i do? i got lost, came back went to the guidance office, got my way into summer school and i passed with a 70 beotches! (sorry for the swearing lol). i left that school and all my friends (like 150 or so lol) and went to a school which has a semestered system cause the other one didnt. dont enjoy this new one but stupid school doesnt even take me excuse when i was clearly sick. all other teachers understood and marked me on a curve. the feeling is mutual judas!

Curves are dumb. If you are too dumb to do the work you should be held back. Its just letting dumb people that shouldnt be in the world into the world.

marks ... well.. school itself is dumb...
Marks are useless.. they mean nothing.... I for example have the lowest marks of my class... while all the students in my class consider me one of the top... smartest in it.... go figure..

Then drop out. You're obviously not gaining anything from it so try something else.
If someone wants to graduate from school, but can only do it though a curve should not graduate.

Ask your doctor to call your place of work, and say that you can bring in a dated and signed note explaining your situation once your illness, which precludes you from driving, is over.

My companies office is nearly 200 miles away from where I work - I'm home based - I was off sick at Christmas with a cricked neck (after being told to lift a colour laser printer which is designed to be lifted by 2 people) My sick note had to go to them through the post and I could claim the cost of my stamps and envelopes back through expenses when I returned to work. The only problem is, The post office round here are crap. I regularly dont receive mailshots from my boss, which means I get into trouble for not following the latest procedures, and they aren't getting things from me. This means that my sicknote could easily go missing on its way to them. I would have to pay £15 to get a replacement sicknote (work wont pay for that though). I could take a photocopy of my original sicknote but work wont accept a photocopy as they must have the original.

No, it is a joke. If you know the doctor or have money they will write a note for you either way. Even if you are not sick. I use to know alot of people in high school that use to do that.
SPECIAL NOTE: THIS IS MY 100TH POST!

Gosh,
Can't you just call the manager and talk to him/her, and tell them about your fever and such? Won't they understand? Their policy is obviously designed to catch folks who are lying about being ill...
I had the previous manager at the Winn-Dixie store (my second job at night a few nights a week) tell me once (while running a 103 fever and vomiting) to "tough it out" and come on in. I told him politely that I couldn't, I just couldn't, period. It worked out OK for me, but I took a chance...
Hope you're feeling better (without the Advil) soon...

I had the same rules at my previous employer... the dr note was a little overkill... thank goodness the wife is a nurse and works at a major hospital. Plenty of Dr's there to write me a note... My thanks to all of them..heheheh
My new employer only requires a note from my Dr if I am out more then 3 days..... that I can understand.... but 1 day... that is useless...

I voted the first one.........but since I dont work.........I have to go by memory...which also doesn't work!!
They do the Dr. note shit because people abuse sick days. There are ALOT of lazy ass people out there.......I know.....I am one of them......just ask my wife!! But if you didn't need a note...then you could just take off for any reason at any time with nothing to answer for. People do this!! "damn......I feel like a 3 day weekend." In my opinion it should be only used for people that are out for more than 2 days....including a weekend as well.......or that seem to have a lot of missed work days. But keep in mind......if they can fire you for coming in sick.......they will certainly fire you for not bringing in a note from your Mommy!!
Suck it up and drive on bud.....there isn't much that happens in life that makes sense.....why should this be any different.

woohoo gj big 100 TM... well I have never been required to produce a sick note for work, and for school, if you start early.... have your parents make you notes, you throw them away and start forging there stuff from the beginning writing your own notes Thats how i skipped class all through high school, that and I sound just like my dad.... but yeah no work has ever required a sick note, sometimes they drop by and offer assistance (I lived in a small town(500 people))

i could be ticketed for driving in under bad conditions... last thing i need..... at a work place that needs you... i could see it more likely.. but BK? they have so many staff ... that if one calls in sick. another person happy as they get to clock in for some more $..... really... it still doesn't make sence for my condition..... it's Abuse to our medical.... and i can understand people that they don't want people calling in sick and partiing the next few days.... but you'd think that they could relize your an honest person after a half a year... (in my condition)

Their policy is quite stiff - no doubt about it.
Winn-Dixie just called me and needs me to work Wed. and Thurs. 'til after midnight for another cashier who twisted his knee yesterday and was scheduled those shifts. I'm taking the Wed. shift, and said I didn't know about Thursday yet...
Funny this should happen to me here as we're all discussing this...
