A 100 Year Celebration in Verse -- In Honor of Dr. Seuss!!
One hundred years! It's so hard to believe
There once was a man who could make rhymes with such ease!
While telling such stories as a "Cat in the Hat"
Or even a "Grinch" who's demeanor was flat!
"Green Eggs and Ham" had no appeal to me
Until the story was read and then I cried out with glee!
The man was a genius! His stories are fun,
To the delight of the masses who come on the run
To read every story and pore over each verse
As though life depends on avoiding a curse!
So now on this day it's all over the news!
We celebrate and raise a toast to our dear Dr. Seuss!!
Happy 100th Birthday!!! (We miss you, big guy)
If you'd like to celebrate, please add your own verse in reply.

If your rhymning skills come from your bum,
How can that be very much fun?
The sounds you'll get are very restricted
while your position is one of a person who's "sitted".
The sounds your bum gives aren't very astute,
They're not much more than a whistle or toot.

While treading along in this Seuss thread tonight
Thoughts of fish making "bubbles" gave me a fright,
I need to avoid any reference to smell...
The childlike Seuss author would certainly quell!
Instead to jump jumping and to dancing and singing
Those thoughts in my head should most surely be ringing
Having read of the bum, of the toot, and the whistle
I thought Seuss in his grave would turn briskly and bristle!
But no, my dear son, he would say to me...
Imagination with joy both desire be set free!
Let go, with your heart, and your mind, as with Sam
Turns out too you may just like those green eggs and ham...
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss, and thank you Dyre...

Thank you all for your rhymes
they will bring back old times
i will quit trying
so you can stop sighing
wondering why i am still typing
you all are good with words
and mine are just absurd
so keep it up and write som poetry
but nothing rhymes so ummm go with me

For christmas last, a Dr Seuss book I got
which brought memories past into my pot
This rhyming stuff is hard - mine sucks. But the man was a sheer genius. I think I read all his books as a kid and loved em to bits. Me, my brother and my sister all got one for christmas and it really did bring back many happy memories of my dearly departed grand-parents sitting me on their laps and reading it with them.
Go Seuss!
