I Need Buying Advice!
I'm quitting my job soon to move to the States, as anyone that's talked to me knows. I work at a PC parts store, and my boss just told me that I can get about $200-$230 worth of merchandise for $100.
I'm excited, of course, but I can't decide on what to snatch. What should I get?
I'm thinking about getting this AlMg (Aluminum/Magnesium) SuperFlower case, with side window, 400W p/s, and slide-out motherboard tray:
What do you all recommend? My box's specifications are as follows:
--
AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.4GHz @ 1.533GHz
512MB PC2100 Transend
EPox 8KHA+ (soon to be replaced by donated Soyo K7V Dragon Plus!)
40GB Seagate Barracuda IV (not really interested in a new HDD)
Radeon 8500LE w/ 128MB (Built by ATi)
Knock-off Owltech Aluminum case
10X DVD-ROM
16X CD-RW
56K Modem

Re:
Perhaps when I land in Arizona, I will dehydrate and hallucinate and go crazy and buy a P4.
I can't see it happening any otherwise.

You should upgrade your processor (unless you're waiting for the hammer ). R300 would also be nice, but it would also be very expensive

I say go for the case, it is the same one I"ll be picking up soon. What you have right now for a processor is fast enough for what you do. Yeah I know fast enough, and processor are not usually word combinations you see together. You can always upgrade your processor later. The case will last you a long time plus it would look sweet in a dorm, light that puppy up!
Maybe also a faster burner, you'll be on broadband in college so you'll need it.
Don't forget a nic card!!

Yeah, well, I knew I'd kill myself for not getting the case, so I did it. ^_^
The black one is a little too gaudy with its gold knobs, so opted for the blue one. It is sweet -- my CPU dropped nine degrees, and this sucker is pretty quiet. I love it. White drives go well with the blue faceplace.

I've seen this one as well. Very nice! I'm not sure if I will go with the black one myself for the very same reason you mentioned above. Now I'm thinking about this one.
However, I could mod the other case & chrome the front face plate.

Yeah, the black one is like a mouth full of gold teeth.
There is, in case you missed it, a pure silver version of this Super Flower case. Why not opt for that?
