Yerba Mate mmmmm good
Hey guys my best friend was just out in town from Colorado and he introduced me to the coolest stuff. Yerba Mate. It's kinda like coffee or tea except that it doesn't use caffiene to stimulate you with the toxic side effects instead it has a substance called Mateine. You can read more about it here. http://www.noborders.net/mate/health.html I highly reccomend if you guys can pick it up do so, this stuff rocks, except grab the real stuff comes in Kilo or Half-Kilo bags and you can get it from here www.matecafe.com Awesome stuff I gotta say, I sleep better feel better have more energy, it's awesome!

I've had it before - it's essentially a very dark kind of tea, and I'm VERY sure it has caffeine in it

No caffiene, check here http://www.a1b2c3.com/drugs/yer_02.htm
Dr. Jose Martin, Director of the National Institute of Technology in Paraguay, writes, New research and better technology have shown that while mate'ine has a chemical constituency similar to caffeine, the molecular binding is different.
Mateine has none of the ill effects of caffeine. And Horacio Conesa, professor at the University of Buenos Aires Medical School, states, There is not a single medical contraindication for ingesting mate'.
Clinical studies show, in fact, that individuals with caffeine sensitivities can ingest mate' without adverse reactions.
The time has come, therefore, to discard the outmoded ideas that
(1) xanthines are all alike,
(2) that yerbamate' contains caffeine, and
(3) that mateine is identical with caffeine. It would be tragic indeed if nature created such a beneficial plant and then, through some bizarre quirk, contaminated it with caffeine.

With out the side effects, Mateine lowers blood pressure for instance, you don't get the jitters or nervousness which can come along with coffee. I'd get major jitters from coffee, sleeplessness etc with Mate I get none of those side effects. Try it you'll see what I mean!

Sorry, but I couldn't be more skeptical unless I saw real scientific papers on it as sources for the claims in the article. Guarana is said to not give any jitters or nervousness either, and it undoubtedly has a very high caffeine content. I would be curious to know how chemically different mateine is from caffeine (1,3,7 trimethylxanthine), too... I'll google around to see if I can find more information, but color me unconvinced til then Magically all the benefits of caffeine and absolutely none of the downsides to caffeine? It sounds more like marketing to me than anything else, truth be told, but I'll believe that it doesn't cause jitters or nervousness to the same extent as other caffeine sources.

I was sceptical also until I tried it, I'm convinced I even ordered some online and I'm replacing my coffee intake with it. I feel better and have way more energy. All I can say is after trying it I'm a believer!
