Whether the article is a serious review or not, this fact is true:
The screws they selected for their illustrations are NOT strictly Phillips screws. They are Combo/Phillips screws that utilize a Combo/Phillips bit that has both Square and Phillips features.
I use this type of screw a LOT when building decks and even on small framing jobs. Notice that if you took out the extended 'notches' from the head of that screw, it would leave a square 'hole'. Those screws 'can' be driven with either a properly sized Phillips bit, OR a properly sized Square bit. However, there's a tendency for the screw head to give out if a proper combo bit isn't used.
So, my conclusion: The guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
