The only reason I use Microsoft Windows is the games. I hate MS !. If I could run all games on Linux I would remove XP from my computer and put my XP CD up in Bill Gates ASS !

Escuse me for my bad english I am from Sweden !

A lot of games do run on Linux - I'm tempted to say all but that wouldn't be true. There is a huge list of games that run natively on Linux. For other games there is Wine which will run almost all software apps (WITHOUT a significant speed decrease!). And to cap it all off there is WineX which allows you to play pretty much any windows game. It even supports recent titles like MaxPayne 2.

Just to give you an idea of the level of performance: I personally use Wine to run Photoshop and the NWN Toolkit (which is 3d accelerated etc...) and everything works without a hitch or slowdown.

Find out about Wine: (http://winehq.org) and WineX (http://www.transgaming.com/) and stop using Microsoft.
-(Only if you want to).

I just don't like the bugginess and sloppy coding of Windows... although I have to say that it is looking as though Longhorn will be a serious improvement, their time is being spent well on longhorn... I have seen a recent beta build of it in action and it's pretty quick... I'm looking forward to when they release it late 2004/ mid 2005

Yes they do but not as good as with Windows XP. Linux problem is the drivers !. The drivers for Windows is much better then the Linux drivers.

What do you base that statement on? You may very well be correct, but from my experience ATI Linux drivers are fine. I run Quake III and NWN on a Radeon 85k and I've never encountered a problem.

I base my statement on my own experience. I have an Radeon 9700 and the drivers for Linux is not as good as the ones for Windows. Maybe we will see a change from ATI. But for now the windows driver are better. Better drivers and more working games and I will run Linux full time !

Yeah, but how much time, reading, trial and error did it take you to set it up so that not all, but most games, run on Linux? There is no incentive for people like me.

The OS (WinXP) works fine, never crashes, never got infected, and all the programs and games just work out of the box. I don't have to learn how to set up Wine or other supporting software to make anothe software run. It's a waste of time.

Microsoft succeeded. They were directly responsible for the large PC revolution and spread of usage. Now, they're ultra rich and powerful. So what?

Don't let me stop you from using XP - That note was just for the people who would like to stop using XP because they don't like it.
