My question is How many of those memebers have actually even made a post?? I was in the list the other day and there are TONS that never even made 1 post.... I guess myself I only would count active members... but that is just me...

indeed - you need to register just to browse - doesn't mean they can be bothered to post!

could look at it this way, they register with no posts then copy & paste all our hard work done here straight to other forums then they take the credit in what they just done.
but if they contribute something then could be seen as give a little, take a little.

The site isnt here to worry about "WHO is taking credit for things"...
If it were that sort of site, it would be a pay site.
We do what we can, and if people take the info from this page somewhere else.... GOOD, just means it helps more people out.
This is a great site, and because of that people keep coming back.
(I'll tell ya..... I joined a long time ago just to look at the forums myself.... took me about a month to actually post something)
In any direction, its awsome... and always will be...

it were only a small point.
just to add there is nothing wrong with it.even i took around 3 months after registering till my first post.
just a small thought on some of the abandoned users would go a long way as members of they contributed something no matter how small or insignificant would perhaps been better.
it were not intended to sound like once you register you have to post.
i wouldn't agree to paying to be a member by subscription, the current system dh have now is well suited by donations which would probably be more appreciated.

mabe not only should the be a last post in thier profiles needs/ to be a last visit.
well I'm on here all the time ...
Icame to this site back when it started .... when did i sighn up? when the site went members only for vewing threads, it was back in sp1 times, then i layed dormant for a long time then i become active....
there is a diffrence beween people who come to take from the communty. mabe sighn up to read one thread and then never come back. If you look you'll see alot of users with 0-15. alot people have a one time problem need halp come her get it fix and then go away... Or just come and visit post 10 times so they can enterinto our contest. I seen people with 10 posts win cool stuff. post soe moreget thier cool stuff setup then 6 mouths later they never posted since. I just see something wrong with that. were are they now? just an radam example -> O
And thier those who actively chose visit, read, to share, to give some back to dh. I'd consider those active. People who decised to take part in the commuity. you got to admit if every user to to activlly post this site would be verry verry active. The more the better!!!
i got an great idea i'm over to a the feedback forum.... I have some idea's to share
how about a script the deletes/inactivates/closes the account that dont make over 10 posts or at lest sighns in every 90 days? it would clear out the cobwebs.... mabe make some people more active
EDIT:
IMO: so when when we have 50,000 we wont truelly have 50,000 users. as your counting every banned user, same people that have multipul accounts! or new created accounts after being banned, users that signed up and left and have never came back and may never will. Etc...
people should me more conserned with other things, other then just numbers, just like post counts...thier overrated. numbers are given more value than ther worth now a days...
speaking of post counts
PONDER THIS...
wich is of more value to the DH commuty..
100 posts spent helping people....
or 100 posts to the one word story thread to get my post count up?

I agree,
Simply put... Though I didnt mean to burn your opinion... simply argue it.
(im that way... no offence)
But yes, any contribution is always great...
And about the 50,000 mem's! RIGHT ON! I remember when it was a lot smaller.
MG
EDIT:
Yes, but when they come to get a fix, and they get it..... Where do you think they are gonna come back too when they have another problem... Or who will they tell their friend to come to when they need something?
exactly.... When you got a great thing going on like DH. Word of mouth is the best advertisment! (i've told a TON of people about this site, and lot have become members!!! a lot of my personal friends)
MG (again)

Neon has some valid points there, but when you look at the size of the big old web, its really never ending. i for one was a lurker on many a forum. Some by their tone of replies, made you hesitate to post. Hence the lurking syndrome
But, one day you stumble across a site like DH and as i did, lurked some more. Here it was different There is respect, help, fun, info and " a wee plug" a Clan.
Forums like DH can only grow thankfully. Due to all the DH members that make it such a great communty.
More the merrier i say

if you look at the old threads in the feedback Zardon stated in answer to statements like this that no user account would ever be deleted through inactivity (and there are many threads about this so im not going to go over them, do a find). to delete accounts in the manner you specifically give as an example isnt practical, this site is open to all, even those who just want to read the forums. granted its a member only forum but there are no hard n fast rules about post counts, posting or in fact anything ! its open for all, even lurkers. Alot of lurkers in the past have started being active, some are just slow at taking the initial leap, but it happens, and when it does we are here to greet them

Sorry , I don't get the lurker concept @ all. you dont have to sign on to see the news on the frount page. mabe it's just me I wouln't be able to read over people problems and ignore them. knowing i had the answer but not take the time to a lest try help them. and not takeing the minute of my time to hit the post buttion and post something.....
ponder this...
mabe it's just me but form the concept of my morality, how can one pass another in need? like some one broke down along the road, or in an accident? when you could take a moment of your time 2 help. i've see a turle in the road i stop pick it u and take it to a more wooded area or at lest get it of the road...
I'm the kinda guy thet usually stops and helps. I've had to drive by people broken down before when i had to get to work as i not getting fired over it but that about the only excuse.
It's a sad world we live in when people dont help people.
I get a good fealing, not only of the good deed, but of tuching another persons life in a posistive way and mabe some day they will take the time to help someone else becouse of it.
Mabe it's just me?
