What NOT to do.
This is a true story. This happened second period and yes it was done by me. I am very horrible with names on most occasion. Which turned out to be a problem today.
Legend: One asterisk is action, two is thought.
*Yesterday*
Me: Hey there's that cute girl I was tellin you about who sits in the back.
Naomi: Oh heeeer. Yeah, she does a lot of charity work and stuff. She's supposed to be a total prude.
Me: What's wrong with that?
Naomi: Never heard a guy say whats wrong with being a prude before.
Me: It's me.
Naomi: You've done a lot Aaron.
Me: Yeah but I didn't go out to do it...Just nevermind. What's her name?
Naomi: Go ask her. I've seen her looking at you before.
Me: Really? Alright then.
*gets up and walks over to her*
Me: Hi there.
Her: Oh hello.
Me: I've been noticing you around school, we cross paths about four times a day.
Her: Oh...I haven't noticed..
Me: **I know she has, we locked eyes all the time** So whats your name?
Her: My name is (I forgot so shoot me >.<)
Me: Nice to meet you. My name is Aaron.
*reaches over to shake her hand*
Her: Wow. Your hands are so warm. *sqeezes his palm and rubs it* How'd you get them like that?
Me: Just natural I guess. *bell rings* I'll talk to you tomorrow (insert name here)
Her: Can't wait, bye.
Now I took this as a it's alright to ask her out mood. So I went to do that today.
*Her and her friends are talking in the back of the room*
Me: **crap I forgot her name** Hey...
*they keep chatting*
Me: Hey....hey..you..
*she looks up and her eyes narrow*
Me: You wanna...go see a movie...?
Her: Hey YOU! I'm busy this weekend!

Reminds me of a story I heard a minister tell one time:
The pastor was recognizing visitors during a church service and noticed a repeat visitor....a lady...sitting in the back. But, he couldn't remember her name. He decided he'd recognize the others first and hope he remembered this lady's name when he got to her.
Well, after all the others had been introduced, he finally motioned in the lady's direction and said, "We're very delighted to see .... umm.....errmmm.....Ma'am, I'm very sorry, but I can't recall your name. But I'd never forget that face."

Hey ^_^,
When you meet someone and they tell you their name, use there name in a sentence, like saying
Hi "person's name"- my name is "your name".
Instead of just saying "Hi, may name is "your name".
That way you have actually said the person's name, and you are much less likely to forget it. Some people have absolutely no problems w/ names, some people can't remember a name for 3 seconds. I am in the latter group too- all you have to do is realize your shortcoming and make a conscious effort to remember names. You will probably end up being better at it than most peeps because you make an effort.

It's not that I really like her, just she seemed nice, heartfelt, and not a stuck up bitch. I'm usually the one asked out, so I lack the necessary skills, but I took a chance because I'm not liking the girls who come to ask me out.

Or you could have said, "damn girl, you're so damn hot I forgot how to use my brain, what was you're name again?" Then right after that say, "your father must be a thief"- And she'll say WTF???- then say, he must have stole the moon and stars and put them in your eyes"-- she'll forgive you.

I would just be honest and say "I'm sorry, I cannot remember your name." I think that would be more successful than "Hey you"

I know the feeling - i'm normally the one asked out too - but recently I tried asking someone out - and it worked fine for me

I can't tell you how much that doesn't work. Maybe I just have bad luck, but the girls that come onto me are psychos. Must be that rabid animal magnetism I have.

LOL- come to think of it- most of my girlfriends have turned out to be psychos
my current one is turning out that way too - if there is a next time, maybe I'll try a different strategy
