banned words from TV have been changed?

I just heard "I'm on their shit list". Completely uncensored, and a while ago I heard at school that someone else said fuck uncensored on TV. So, have the FCC rules changed or something? Has anyone else noticed this?

over the past 5+ years, with each passing year i can see the TV getting "worse" as to what they say/ topics they cover. from what i have HEARD so take this with a grain of salt, anyway i heard that its the context that the "bad" word is used. or maybe people are realizing that they are just "english" words, not "bad" ones...

Yes they have officially changed. Fuck is no longer censored by the FCC. I imagine some stations will impose self censorship in order to maintian their appeal to parents with children. But as of right now I can say fuck all those fat fucks and it would be perfectly fine (Zardon's discretion of course).

I agree: I think tv is getting less puritan... not worse. America has traditionally been a very strict country in comparison with the rest of the world.

Personaly, as a european, I dont see what the fuzz is about the fuck word... back here were allowed to say whatever we want on tv (well, with some restrictions...), doesnt mean we say it though, people do have to take responsibility for their actions and words and swearing isnt actually something most tv people want to be associated with.

I remember a while ago I saw some tv host interviewing some american rockstar or something and he happen to say the F word and went "Oh sorry, guess you can edit that away" and the host goes "Ah we value freedom of speech here, you can say whatever the fuck you want"

Americans, by and large, have been traditionally much more morally uptight than our friends across the ocean. I can't say that that's true about this generation, though.

Some radio station played Carlin's "Seven Words" live and on the air - the FCC fined them, and they won in court on first amendment grounds. If I see the article again I'll post a link.

Bytheway, I snapped this up in the dictionary...

Fuck.

Word History: The obscenity fuck is a very old word and has been considered shocking from the first, though it is seen in print much more often now than in the past. Its first known occurrence, in code because of its unacceptability, is in a poem composed in a mixture of Latin and English sometime before 1500. The poem, which satirizes the Carmelite friars of Cambridge, England, takes its title, “Flen flyys,” from the first words of its opening line, “Flen, flyys, and freris,” that is, “fleas, flies, and friars.” The line that contains fuck reads “Non sunt in coeli, quia gxddbov xxkxzt pg ifmk.” The Latin words “Non sunt in coeli, quia,” mean “they [the friars] are not in heaven, since.” The code “gxddbov xxkxzt pg ifmk” is easily broken by simply substituting the preceding letter in the alphabet, keeping in mind differences in the alphabet and in spelling between then and now: i was then used for both i and j; v was used for both u and v; and vv was used for w. This yields “fvccant [a fake Latin form] vvivys of heli.” The whole thus reads in translation: “They are not in heaven because they fuck wives of Ely [a town near Cambridge].”

I think it's pretty fuckin stupid how in America wrestling is watched by millions of people, now... wrestling... hmm lets see, a bunch of men in tight undies grabbin each other and throwing each other around, and worst of all the majority of the audience is kids.

And nudity is censored? Thats fucking RETARDED, wrestling should be BANNED, nudity should never be censored.

If I was a little older and had a better vocabulary I'd explain this somewhat better but now I cant really think.

What I'm saying is its not right that wrestling is completely fine, and nudity is not, it should be the opposite.

Nudity =
