I liked pretty much every album before St. Anger. But it's up to them what they'd like to do .
Hopefully the next album will be better.

I like the older stuff better also.
But, when listening to St. Anger, and ESPECIALLY watching the DVD of them jamming in their 'Garage' studio, (the music is better on the DVD) - it occurred to me that this is what they want to play, and that's what counts (as opposed to Load and Re-Load which were the classic 'sell-out' releases...I think those were a strategic move) - I do have to say, that their sell-out cds created a whole new listening audience that would have never listened to metal, let alone Metallica...I bet those cds opened a new world to alot of poeple.
So, the more I listen to St. Anger, and the more I think about what they're doing, the more I like it...it does seem heavier than anything they've done yet (you have to take into account that they are orchestrating their music very differently than Ride or Master...the bass doesn't follow the rhythm and so forth...they all do their own thing and come together for short HEAVY intervals.)
And, I have to add that I've been to most Metallica concerts that come near Vegas, (although not the current one) and they play almost nothing but the old stuff...proving that they've lost NOTHING!

The old stuff is classic. Some of those guitar solos were amazing. They will never create music like that ever again. I stopped listening after Black. - even that was not up to par.
I saw them in '92 Buffalo, the second best show I have ever seen, second only to a Pink Floyd concert I saw in Syracuse a few years later.
Actually I haven't even heard the most of the newer stuff, cause I just don't care.

Okay, well, it works for me.
Bands can do whatever they want. If I like it I'll buy it, if not I won't, simple as that.

to hell with metallica..make room for other great bands..they had their run and they shot their wad..
time to get the book deal or soundtrack albums done...so much to do about a band that wore themselves out..St. Anger is absolute crap
I wonder if the team from Queer Eye produced it..

Well unless it is at a Jerry Lewis fundraiser during Labour day weekend..
Lets raise some money for Lars ...
In a slightly biased point of view. Umm .. He's a great drummer ..
His opinions and attitude are not very well liked by myself or others in the Music Biz..
Bottom line: Shut up and listen .. go play your drums and shut the F@@K up .. PLEASE ..
(he gives me an instant headache everytime I hear his whinny little voice )

Older stuff.
I heard previews of St anger and it sounds like a newbie produced it by getting some instrument sounds and some dude sings over it without knowing what the beat is like.
Overall St. Anger = teh sux!!!
Oh and i dont care if u gonna criticise me, but i liked Load (heard some of reload..didnt much like it)
Heard some of the older stuff, liked those
S&M is my fav metallica album
