LOL- that's funny. But in a way, kinda scary- that's just a dramatization of what is REALLY happening. They are knocking on doors, wrecking peoples lives. A $30,000 fine would wreck my life, not unlike that crazy video.

I have rifles not 20 feet away from me, if someone busted down my front (or back) door I could be at them before they could reach me. They would need a warrent or I would shoot them.

Actually, because of a small tax that the Canadian government placed on recordable media, downloading songs is legal here.
The tax that is collected on blank cd’s and tapes is to compensate artists for lost revenue.
The Canadian government can’t figure out a fair way to distribute compensation to musicians and record companies, so no money has been paid out to any artist it’s all still sitting in a bank account waiting to be distributed.

So it's completely legal to download any song from any artist off Kazza in Canada? I really wasn't aware of that.

That is a pretty stiff tax you guys have on recordable media. But I just stayed in Canada for a few days and couldn't even keep up with all the taxes I saw. But then a gain, it isn't getting any better here either, and I don't have health insurance- Sooo... Hmmm,
I think Our government already taxes so heavily that the system is broken beyond repair anyways. So much so that people depend on the government for eveything anyway. When the private sector would do just fine by itself w/ a few regulatiuons and a lot less tax.
But that's another discussion. Or is it? All the money goes to the same people/ places anyway.. It all kinda ties in to the same thing somewhere along the line..
It all makes me wonder what the hell happened over the past 50 years.

That is fascinating (and a workable solution Iwould say!) what frightens me is that under UK copyright law there isn't even a provision for people to make copies of stuff they own...If I buy a Music CD and copy it onto cassette to listen to in my car I'm breaking UK copyright law...how primitive is that??
