But you should keep it specific. Read you name. 'DRIVERHEAVEN' keep this site mainly driver based.

You have the kX project in here, NVIDIA and ATI driver mods including the mobility mod.

That and expanding the 'driver' aspect should be your main focus.

Bot all the NEWS that keeps getting posted (as it's not really news, it just copied of other sites (no offence meant dom etc..)
But we can goto War2Search or The Inq, The Reg and Neowin etc.. which is where most of it is collected from.

Post Driver news, (but still anything REALLY important)
The competitions are good though. Keeps the place alive, although I leave it to all you boy racers that can afford it or must have the latest hardware

But please, being like the rest, means that. JUST being like the rest. Be different! That's what we need.

How to optimise drivers, how to mod drivers, tuning drivers, driver reviews. Driver comparisons etc..
I know there are specific site, but if you grab the broad range, get SIS, Intel. Try VIA, nForce information too.
Start having driver review (unfortunatly this takes time). But member can Review them as well.

Notice a theme... DRIVERS... that why I came here.. As it becoming more or less similar to other site I start coming here lees as I know it will just be the same stuuf I read there

(PS I voted keep it)
NOT to bring this, off-topic, but ALL news on ALL sites IS copied from OTHER sites. And, BTW, I don't post news from W2S, my buddy NewsFactory's got that covered.

DH, is to be. I keep expecting more technical stuff out of it and I realized today that this isn't that type of place. It's for drivers. I keep overseeing that. I guess I just have to wet my whistle in other places sometime.

Thumbs Up! Retorical Question???

First off let me say this: Driverheaven is currently the BEST News/DriverUtility/Tech Support site in the english side of the net. While Driver News has been slow lately and while I am an ATI guy I think that if as reported here Nvidia is going to start interacting with the community then this site has a VERY strong future with both Nvidia and ATI.

While the Tech Support isn't always as quick as Rage3d, there is a LOT less garbage on the forums here. This is provides excellent tools to complement the drivers and news, and I am Pround to be able to host some of them on my site as well.

If Driverheaven was to shut down I believe it would be a great loss to myself as well as the community as a whole. I even decided to start my own site with the intention of even trying to become a shadow of what Driverheaven is. While my site is very new and not very popular (yet ) I was inspired by what Driverheaven is and has become. Driverheaven has also done what it is doing without having to resort to pop ups and other annoying money making spam.

I do not post here often but I visit several times a day and the news is unparalleled. I believe that Driverheaven has a bright future in store and if it is a money issue more then the time consumption perhaps if you spoke out to the communtiy. Example Driverheaven costs us $x/month and we spend x hours a week running it. Compare that with we make $x/month from ads/donations and say weather or not it leaves a +/- in the balance book. If people knew what it costs for this site to run and if this site isn't making a profit perhaps more people would donate.

In closing it would be a shame if Driverheaven closed because of what some people think, when it provides so much to the community as a whole.

This place is brilliant *hell, it's my homepage* i came here when i had trouble with my Radeon 8500, with a simple search in google, and i've stuck ever since. It's community is great, helpful, and it's a nice place for people to help out others with their computer probs. Shutting it down would be a big disappointment to a good number of people in the community, so keep it open, you're doing a great job already!

I tend to agree, while Rage3D may get you a quicker response, the chances of getting flamed or abused there are almost a given....they tend to be real cruel when some n00b stops in with what they consider to be a valid question that they needed to resolve...

I browse forums to find new interesting stuff about computers and all related to them.
But on this forum i can hardly navigate. The information exists, no doubt, abbundently, but those who post only to increase their posts number makes me seak. And they are in such a great number on your site.
Another problem for me is the signature. Most posts now contain at most one line, a few words there, said in a hurry, but the signature is an image which pulsates into my eyes, and i can hardly see what is that he/she posted because of this.

I trully believe that yours is the one of the best hw related sites, but the forum SUCKS, pardon my french.

I think that changes are good, and they need to be done, and in this case, they must be done swiftly and with no remorse. Cause the ill things are taking over.

Why close it?

The choice is ultimately Zardon's, but if it becomes too much of a chore then by all means go for it. Like I said before, it's a great site for driver support, AMD help and news for me. But that's just me I do agree that Rage3D is a harsh forum at times, but I find what I'm looking for 9/10 times I post there. A lot of cruelty is fueled by redundant posts over at Rage3D. Many questions get asked over and over again. DH doesn't suffer because in all honesty the new posts don't appear often so commonly asked questions are easily found.

Since the start, I visit this site almost every single day...to say the truth, it is the only "hardware themed"-site I'm looking regularly at all.

I hit the bookmark at least 3 times a day and although I'm far from posting constantly on the board (as I almost never had a problem with my ATI card or other stuff), I'm very thankful especially for the news u are posting here (drivers, new hardware, new DX, Hyperions, SP versions etc etc). I click once and everything I'd like to know is on the screen.

Moreover, it is the second home of Omegadrive and his drivers, the undisputed master of driver-optimization.

It would be a great loss for me if you close this site!
Never ever think of closing it!

Best wishes from Germany,

Coffi

Wow. And people though I had strong feelings on this forum. D@MN. Well, it is true that people come here for the post count. The russian roulette thread was almost soley created for Cyborg to increase his post count. I admit, I used to come here to increase post count when bored. But I barely post as much as I used to cuz seriously, I'm not interested by too much here.

Xen: I don't really think the forum sucks. Maybe there are serveral unnecessary posts in threads, but most forums have that. I have always thought of this place as a friendly place where people post whenever they have the slightest thing to say. And I agree, sometimes it can be hard to find things. But I can't say this forum sucks.

I have to admit, it's things like huge images in sigs that have put me off coming to the forum part of the site regularly. I do like the front page though, it's a useful resource, and I'd certainly be sad to see that go.

You guys have also had a good share of interviews too, which is always good (regardless of how you feel about the answers given). But, like others have said, it's up to Zardon at the end of the day, and no number of polls (or donations) will change that.

Umm...hello! Keep it open baby! This is the site I go to...well...every couple hours at least to get news and what not. As for donations I would love to pay as much as I could to help keep the site up and running, but with the economy being the way it has been it would have to unfortatunatly be minimal.

People have gripes about every site, I don;t think thats any reason to close down a site as AWESOME as DH. I tell all my friends about it daily. I'm always the first with news in my circle of friends thanks to you guys. I'd love to contribute money, however, I think what you're seeing is everyones pocketbooks are getting pinched now. Thank you GW, and the rest of the NWO cabal. I'll gladly contribute as soon as my utilities aren't in jeopardy of being shut off! Can I mail a check or money order as I have no credit card? Whenever I go online, after I check my e-mail, the first place I come to is here to check the headlines on the main page, and to see what's being discussed in the forums. My post count may not be that high, but that doesn't mean that I don't come here and enjoy things. I consider this site to be a valuable source of information and if it were to dissappear, I think that would be a very bad thing.

My humble opinion

I have been a dedicated member of DH for some time. I enjoy just about everything that the site has to offer. I am dismayed at "negative or indifferent" posting. I believe that posting of the aforementioned type really reflects an indifference or lack of interest in the personal lives of the DH member and really has nothing to do with the site.
Driverheaven is pheonominal, and it there is nothing like it on the web. I agree with many other members that a personal agenda seems to figure greatly into dissapointments that a few folks might be mulling over now.
If Driverheaven goes away, then surely a great void would be created and lesser and less interesting sites would attempt to fill the gap, but I will be damned if I am ever going back to Rage3D for anything.
I am dissappointed by negative comments by some DH members and the occasional driveby post by disgruntled members...all I can say is get "gruntled or get a life, but don't take it out on DH or the staff.
I spend a little time everyday encouraging other people I work with and I meet to check the site out and become a member just to get in touch with what is really going on on the web in terms of trends, news and information.
Driverheaven occupies a unique place in terms of what it has to offer, but if members fail to entertain it's possibilties and take advantage of it's merits then they have only themselves to blame, when they log on.......
and there is nothing but Error 404..............

This site is one of two that I visit every day of the week. I like the people, I like the content, and I really like the news. Money has been tight lately (I spent pretty much all of my money on my computer upgrade), but when I get my next paycheck, I'll be sure and drop off a donation. After all, I never would have gotten my new computer working right without the help of some of the people from this site, anyway.

I hope I'm not out of line when I say this, but personally, I think Allan (Zardon) needs to take a vacation from the site (if that's even possible) for a little while. I can't even begin to imagine the stress involved with running a place as big as this, and constantly dealing with companies, PR people, and who knows what else. On top of that, he's one of the most active members of the forum. If I remember correctly, on top of ALL OF THAT, he's also got one of those "real life" things, that I can't possibly imagine him having much time for (does he sleep?).

I've been here since the beginning, and I've seen this site grow so much it's difficult to believe. Even now whenever I search on Google or check out another tech site and see a link here, I'm always surprised because I remember when this was just a little forum with high hopes. I vote to leave the site open, and I think everybody who votes to close it should consider themselves lucky to find someplace else half as good as DriverHeaven.

Dude, what are these few people thinking? This site is among the best that I visist on the web. Of all of the other tech forums I have been through this one is by far the most user friendly and enjoyable. The people that frequent are both knowledgeable and most often quick to help if someone does have a question/problem/. Until recently I have not posted that much, but I have been a frequenting this site since just after it opened and have enjoyed the site the whole time. It is just an all together great community. KEEP DH OPEN!

Wow. It seems like just yesterday I was here and it was the day the site had opened with only a pile of forums and a large overclocked R300 at the top, and the only link to it was mashed into the Rage3D boards. I had no real idea what the site would become and barely an idea of what it even was, but figured with the people who were running it it would soon become top notch. And here it is, just over a year later. I don't visit the forums here a whole lot, but I find the front page news and the interviews to be phenomenal - some of the best on the net, even if it goes off topic sometimes. I try and drop by here daily and occasionally click on an ad. To see this site leave so soon after opening would be terrible, especially when still seems to be so much going in the community.

Probably not a surprise, but I vote for it to stay.
