rolleyes I think I have a problem.

I hate having to swap cds for games, so when I have more game cds than cd drives I just install a new one. I started with one drive, and it was fine for playing unreal 2. Then I got chaser, and I hated having to swap the cds, so I installed another drive. Then I started playing NWN again after the expansion and I installed a 3rd cd drive just to avoid the hastles of cd swapping. Is this weird, or do many people hate having to swap cds?

One more drive and then I'll have to start modifying the case to install more.

I think you lose movies and/or music when using many no-cd cracks.

it is a virtual drive type of thing, works great.....just have to use the right software for it. Daemon works really well......maybe some of the other guys/gals will tell you what works for them with the games they play.

Good luck

Nope, not at all. Most no-cd cracks make it exactly like playing it with the CD in, 'cept without the bother & generally with a small speed bump.

GameCopyWorld & a new place called GameBurnWorld that isn't as in-depth but does seem a bit quicker.

There's a couple of other good ones, post up if ya need help. I pretty much ONLY play games with no-cd patches just out of an ornery preference that I shouldn't have to put the CD in. (I'm weird that way. )

I too, hate having to hunt up a CD just to play a game. Very annoying, especially when you consider that all the program usually does is check that the disk is there and never accesses it again. Not to mention the extra wear-and-tear on the CD drive to constantly spin the disk. Most NoCD fixes still allow movies and such, you just have to copy those folders from the disk to the harddrive(in some cases). Now, if the game's music was actual 'music CD' tracks, then you'll have to put the disk in to get the music.

Some games can be tricky and won't allow the default game-created desktop shortcut to run the game with a NoCD fix. With those, you just have to create a new shortcut to the EXE for it to work.

I've been using NoCD fixes for years and my CD drives thank me for it. (by not dying on me )

OH! And make sure you do a FULL install of the game before attempting a NoCD fix.

Another place for NoCD fixes:
www.megagames.com

GameCopyWorld is the best though.

CloneCD is an app that makes image files etc... could work, cracks are a lot easier and a lot faster...

To mount image files, you can also use Alcohol 120% as an alternate to Daemon Tools. Supposedly, it will even work with games using the latest protections, but you have to turn on an emulation option for those games that are protected that way. I never tried it though.

depending on the game... if it is a game that has all the music/movies installed to the computer then no... but if it is one that has them on the cd then yes. But then, the game probably wont work very well...

also, yes i think you have a problem... i had swapping cd's too.. so if you have enough extra space, just get a virtual cd program
