How bout we add a cost line to "Post Your Rig"
I just have to ask you guys after reading your "post your rig" thread, can we start a new line in there showing total cost?!? Zardon your computer has more power in it than some small countries have in entire mainframes (Hyperbole added for humor, but it's not far from the truth ;p). I am awefully curious as to how much you guys have had to put into your rig.

Remember those prices are Canadian. Prices there in the usa are damn near 1/4 the price. And most of it I have gotten just when it has come out. When it is at peak price.
And the $800 vid card is the Gainward GeForce FX 5900 Ultra 256. Might have dropped about $30.00 or so in the last 3 weeks. Hell the 9800 Pro is still like $730 here. Check out the prices for yourself though. This ones my pref. place to shop as it's a bit more professional, Lot's of stock, and they have replaced my mobo no questions asked the 3 times I cooked it. http://www.ncix.com/
And this one where I got my hard drives today. they are cheaper, But small, rude and not so customer service oriented. http://www.atic.ca/

There isn't a problem with asking people what they paid for their rig. It's up to the person if they want to respond or not.

I only spent maybe $400 bucks total on my PC; video card, RAM, motherboard. Usually, most of my parts are hand-me-downs from my bro. If it wasn't for him, I'd still be messing around on a CONsole system.
As for it's current worth...I don't know, PC's depreciate in double dog-years.

When I first purchased all of my stuff about 2 1/2 years ago to build my first computer I spent about $1200, from them I have just been slowly upgrading little by little. I usually get stuff for my birthday and christmas, and I would imagine I probably spend about $400~$500 each year myself in upgrades.
Oh yeah, the only thing left that I am still using from my first computer is my monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, and DVD drive...lol

even though pcs are expensive I really do think the way you can just alter sections of the computer is a great thing....... you may all take it for granted, but being a multi platform person myself if you purchase a G4/5 you are stuck with it really.
