Do you like "Saw" movies ?

Seriously guys are you attracted by the horrible scenes in these kind of movies ,
I sometimes find it "just for digusting" with no goal or idea. And they are releasing a game alongside with upcoming sequel.

What do you think ?

I much prefer "In the mouth of madness", much better film.

My favourite saw movie is the intro to Scary Movie 4.

Re: Do you like "Saw" movies ?

I put 'spew' but let me clarify that - I think the original movie was fantastic, great twists and turns, plot and script ingenuity and the gore was in the right places at the right times. I went to see Saw II in the cinema and didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much, Saw III I watched the DVD and didn't enjoy it - there was just nothing new in it. Haven't bothered with IV and V

I fail to see the point with the movies, they make absolutely no sense to me and the only hook seems to be the 12-year old's appealing violence and guts.

Re: Do you like "Saw" movies ?

I enjoyed the first SAW (as did most people I know of) and the 2nd was okay but nothing special...after that they are all crap that I skipped. It's a franchise with only a gimmick to keep it going and you'd do well to stop after viewing the first movie.

nah im not into the gore stuff, no need for it. good horror films should f*ck with your mind, not throw a lot of giblets in your face. I watched hostel and thought that was pretty sick. (not "good" sick, just sick)

The fact SAW is referred to as a horror movie is something i never get. Its a gore fest. Horror movies should be the films like the exorcist which make you think a little rather than have to wade for 1hr 30mins through entrails and guts.

I quite enjoyed Saw,i have the first three on dvd...As a few mentioned already..

Saw 2 was OK,saw 3 was certainly one i felt should not of been made as it were that boring. And that's why i have not bothered with the rest of the series.I just have a feeling that they have stretched Saw far enough.

Re: Do you like "Saw" movies ?

Yeah, I like them. They're pretty tame compared to movies like August Underground, to be honest.

Obviously, those kind of movies aren't for everyone, but I think it's pretty good entertainment.

Speaking of August Underground, you simply cannot buy publicity like the director got for that. If you don't know the story, he was driving his car with a load of the DVDs in the backseat. He was pulled over and subsequently arrested after police watched some of the film and thought it was a real snuff film. When I heard about that, I HAD to watch it.

Why?

I mean if snuff movies as a concept get you hot why not just go for the real thing? Is it because you would feel a little sick actually watching a real snuff and feel this gives you a bit of the buzz without the guilt? Seriously, I just don't get it.

Edit: Read the IMDB page for august underground and I almost lost my dinner. have to say it, but if I found the concept of girls getting raped and covered in feces and urine exciting or entertaining id check myself in. I need a shower already.

I agree whole heartedly there, but sadly as special effects and the accompanying techniques develop, so do the egos of the people involved so we're likely to see more saw-esque movies in future...

lucky us
I much prefer movies that really make you think like Fight Club and Donnie Darko, anybody seen the sequel S. Darko yet?

saw has become nothing more than a clone of what happened to friday 13th and nightmare on elm st. going by the name alone and reusing the same elements from before. i'm waiting for the saw where they are in space or something. or one where the little dummy guy fights chucky.

Re: Do you like "Saw" movies ?

I think you guys are a little too hard on Saw. It was a great indie film when it came out but then someone realized they could pimp it out into a franchise and that's what ruined it. Strip away the hype and the hate then you can enjoy Saw for what it was.

Edit: Read the IMDB page for august underground and I almost lost my dinner. have to say it, but if I found the concept of girls getting raped and covered in feces and urine exciting or entertaining id check myself in. I need a shower already.
I've seen some real films. Only on the internet though, I'd never go out of my way to watch stuff like that. My main thoughts about films like August Underground (ie fictional snuff) were confusion. It's ridiculous to see that that movie got made. The guy behind it - and especially the actors in it - must be seriously flippin' weird. One scene (one of the more milder ones, for the sake of people on here) is just a woman [pretending] to repeatedly vomit onto a naked hostage, for about twenty minutes, while a man spits on and kicks them. How is that entertaining?

And yeah, it is pretty bad. That's why I didn't link to the IMDB page.

The 'real films' I've mentioned are ones in the news. There was a russian man (I think) who got attacked by two teenagers in a woods, and they filmed it. Inevitably the video ended up online. They hit him with a hammer and stab him with screwdrivers. It's pretty messed up, but it's not got any of the weird vomit/urine stuff like in the movie I mentioned.

And then there's the sacrifice videos from Iraq or wherever, that were "all the rage" when I was in highschool.

It's weird how I can watch those - but when someone linked me to a man killing a dog with a boulder, I couldn't watch it.

I'm just odd.

Wow, I thought the saw movies were at the summit of sick, but after reading this thread... I don't understand why this can be entertaining?
