How much AS3 to put on?
I have a quick question... I just bought the following:
AMD XP1700+ Tbred-B DLT3C JIUHB 1.5V Thermalright SLK-800(A) Artic Silver 3 Thermal Compound I would like to know HOW MUCH AS3 should I put on the processor.. like so it covers the whole thing, and how thick.. and so on. Also, is there any chance I will have any AS3 left over to put on my ATi 9500 Pro.. (gunna remove shim and put AS3 on the chip). Thanks for the info...  |

AS3 instructions
They say it should be about the thickness of a sheet of standard paper. If you have a 3 gram tube you will have plenty for the 9500 and plenty left over after it. From the AS website... "The 3 gram tube contains enough compound to cover at least 20 to 30 small CPU cores, or 7 to 12 large CPU cores, or 3 to 6 heat plates." |

I would say thats being conservitive, I have done at least 4 heat plates, at least 15 small cores and at least 3 large cores.

I've done 3 cpu's, 2 ti-4200's, 3 9700 pro's and still have alot left in the small tube of AS3.
