LMAO my dog likes eminem
I wanted to show my sister how much better my sound system was compared to her little radio she just bought and was bragging about how it was better than anyone's that she knew. She insisted her radio was better than both my sound system (harmon/kardon with 4 polk speakers, over 1000$) and my dads (an even better harmon/kardon amp with even better speakers) OK, I guess I'm getting off topic, but anyways I started playing the cd and after like 30 seconds my dog ran in very happy and excited. I figured she wanted to go out so I took her outside for a while. I returned to playing the cd and my dog ran back in all excited agian. I stopped the cd and she got calmer and walked out. I started playing it agian and she ran back in all exicted agian. I have very strange animals.

I figured I explained it up above. I was showing up my sister who was insisting that her cheap radio was better than my system. She only listens to rap and that was the cd she sugested.

What's the world coming to when; the best rapper is white and the best golfer is black?

If even half of what Eminem says in his music is true (and it is art, despite what you may think, Jeff), then he had a hard life. Now, some may ask; "who didn't have a hard life?", which is a valid question, because, we all have or had a hard life, at least 90% of us. If you have something is common with 90% of people, chances are they will listen to and buy whatever the person is selling.
Lets face it, he says what most of us think. I mean can you honestly say you've never called someone a 'fag', or at least thought someone was? People like in-your-face stuff, and people who tell it like it is. Eminem is certainly one of those people who do tell it like it is. All issues aside, if you actually listen to his music, his rhymes are very good, better than most, IMO. Look at Will Smith, for instance, he doesn't curse in his music, which is fine, but, he can't rhyme either.

Eminem
First off Craig588 I feel sorry for your dog ..
Secondly Dom music for most of us is melody and rhythm .. Not rhyming.
If I want rhyming I'll right a poem ... Won't I ?????
So you can pick up that I'm not a real rap fan
Although I do like some Lincoln Park ...
Words come as easily to me as music ..
Mr. Mathers will have to do some refining if he is ever to become more than a passing fad ...
From recall D & D :
Just the chant for now .. working on arrangements with my brother now ...(Song is older written in '93)
For each man,
There comes a time for life.
For every man,
There is a time to die.
In every instance,
In every case.
He is watching .....
I see you ............
.......................................
All is well,
Until you suffer some.
All is well,
Down here in HELL !!!
It's one of those "Love Songs" can't you tell

Art for arts sake, maybe that is why people like Mapplethorpe, and his pictures, I don't care for them. And some people spend money on Rap, so much for that, but the phony lifestyle, they phoney lyrics and the postering, come on.
I have seen rap evolve, I was stationed in Long Beach when it was phat and fresh, not this east coast and west coast excrement...Tired of Illin Ganstas and that bullshit phoney lifestyle, I don't give a damn what they think about they penis, they bitches and they ho's...got my mind on my money and my money on my mind..that is all what it is about.....gettin over on the man...if it is art, then it is an abomination....
If you like rap, more power to anyone, but it is vulgar, sexist, masoginistic, and frankly inflammatory. It in my opinion is what the civil rights movement turned into, and I didnt say that first...Jesse Jackson did...

Naa ... I don't think anyone would flame you here MikeDaMan .. Not me anyway
We all have our personal preferences and tastes in music and other things in life.
Wouldn't it be terribly boring if we all liked exactly the same things ??? There would be no diversity

True enough, it is a lot of things you mentioned. But Goya's Cronos Devouring One of his Children is vulgar, too. A lot of our most treasured works can be considered sexist and misogynistic (e.g., The Bible, the Constitution, etc). Guernica is inflammatory.
I am by no means comparing rappers to Picasso, Goya, and Moses. Arguably those painters are more culturally significant. But I think saying that something is not art based on the four negative things you posted isn't fair. It does take a lot of skill to write rhymes -- even if the message isn't always clear or worthwhile.

Jeff... he doesnt constantly whine about his mother.. you just dont understand his music... he's a poet, a couple of English teachers in my school like some of his songs because it expresses poetry, you just gotta have the right mind for this kinda music -- if you dont like it, leave it be.....

Not if its the right music ... We hold our opinions and others indeed reflect theirs ..
I LOVE IT LOUD AND LIVE ....
I LOVE TO PLAY LIVE ... BUT I HATE RAP .. MikeDaMan loves it ..
So do some of my other friends on and off of DH ... In Real Life ... My younger family members ... And friends hmmmm....
But I also love jazz, blues and some classical ....
Maybe I'm bridging a generation gap when my mom bitched at me about playing that weird hillbillyrock stuff(Heart)
Those guys in leather outfits wearing makeup(Kiss)
That devil music with that ugly gay looking singer(Judas Priest) ... Sorry guys my Ma had that one nailed
I could go on all night on this post ... but I won't ...
We all love Music in some way ...
I consider it a form of expression or extension of myself ......
As you can see .................................................. .....
