Default Post Ethical Question

I have a 1.4GHz Thunderbird that cannot overclock much above 1.53GHz, not even at 2.0V. The computer I'm working on right now has a 1.4GHz Thunderbird that just *ahem* POSTed at 1.6GHz -- something my CPU will not do.

Is it wrong to swap them out?
What would you do?

Default Post Well, for me that depends on a couple of things.

Like who's box I'm working on, what do they use their pc for (do they need it), do I like 'em, do they owe me money, would they notice.....

I just fixed a friends pc and traded my POS linksys NIC for an older (but ROCK solid when OCing ) Kingston NIC. I did it without consulting him and felt no guilt. I know he doesn't use it at all, and it works just peachy on his FSB speeds anyway. (It's an f-ing socket7, fer chrissakes!)

Ethics are situational, unless I decide otherwise.....

Good answer! (I wish I'd have thought of it...) I'd also recomend the old, "electron drift" theory and the "static core charge is low" lines to toss at them. They'll be kissing your feet for offering to swap out your CPU for one without any 'silicon fatigue'.
