I got some of the things that were hanging in my Mothers window at the nursing home...... Have to find a good place here for them. I know, not a "typical" christmas gift, and nothing like you guys have listed, but in so many ways more meaningful.

Peace

Re: Xmas etc presents

I went to FutureShop today for the Boxing Day sales and grabbed a 24 inch Samsung monitor (2443BW). I was expecting big but not BIG. Games look incredible now and there's not one bit of ghosting like some LCD's I've seen. It was on sale for $299CDN (best price I've ever seen was 329 and that was before shipping costs). No dead pixels either

I had to pull myself away from buying an Xbox360 bundle, it was a Pro bundle with 4 games (Halo3 and Stranglehold among them) for $260CDN. Awesome price but I need to buy computer hardware instead.

That is my next purchase and a great deal there I will have to watch Future Shop and Best Buy close in the New Year.

Re: Xmas etc presents

I just bought myself some 1000uf capacitors to salvage my old P4 motherboards, they are still running but I don't like the looks of those caps..... these new ones will give me another 4-5 years out of those systems. So Yeah! Capacitors for christmas. Does that count?

I also salvaged an AMD XP 2200+ Asus A7S333 system some guy left here as dead. Proper bios setup and it's solid. Took most of the night to download and install 72, Win2K updates... That's after the SP4 upgrade and IE6 install.

So that's like 3 "new" systems for me....... A good haul I would say.

Absolutely - very geeky! I have some around here somewhere too - several bagfuls actually...

Nice, a very well rounded assortment of gifts and experiences - bet your mom loved that with you too!

I got new Tennis Shoes! And an electronic egg. It tells time, temperature (!), date, alarm, timer (yes, it's an "egg" timer ) - and toggles through all the functions just by touching it on the top. A nifty gadget I must say.
