Re: The Introduce Yourself Topic!!!
Our records indicate that you have never posted to our site before! Why not make your first post today by saying hello to our community in our Off-topic forum.
Hi there folks, I've been called G00k for over 40 years, a bastardization of my last name, so it isn't a racial slur. Some forums can't get over that. I've been working in computer repair since '74, watched the industry grow up around me. Worked on a lot of stuff - some great, some real failed experiments. I like new toys, but it's getting harder to keep up on the crest of the learning curve. That's why I'm here. I've joined lots of forums because that's where the bright young people are, with answers and solutions to problems. Hopefully, there will be solutions to MY problems with a few drivers and related software. I will ask questions like a newb, and look for answers in single syllable words. Treat me like a kind of higher functioning moron, as long as you're being clear. I have no ego invested in asking for help. I've relied on support colleagues for 34 years - I'm here to get help. Someday, maybe I can help you. My first post will be about ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 drivers and software. I have read some of the posts so far, and am feeling stupid. So check it out, and thanks for being here. G00k |

Re: The Introduce Yourself Topic!!!
Hiiii, I'm Howie, don't ask about the name haha.
I am a full time ICT student and have been messing around with PCs since about the age of 5 - and in that time I have broke many .But now whilst I am at college full time, on my days off I work at a computer repair place as a technician. I kept meaning to join the forums but never got round to it but now I am, so hope I will be able to input into some good discussions and meet some cool people, and maybe get some help myself

Re: The Introduce Yourself Topic!!!
Time for me to introduce myself. My name is Josha and I'm from the Netherlands. I will try to speak correct English as much as possible. :P I have been around the forums from time to time, just to see about updates on the omega project and the official ati drivers (what a hassle those have become). Hope to have a nice time around here.
Cheers.

Re: The Introduce Yourself Topic!!!
Hello:
I am Rick and I just joined the form today. I am over 50 years of age with quite a bit of business and new venture experience and wisdom. My interests are in mobile phone apps and services, as in the not too distant future, the mobile phone will be our mobile personal computer. I am also involved in ICT consulting to developing countries, helping them deploy new ICT systems and services to help accelerate their socio-economic development -- for me, it's sort of a give back of the knowledge and experience I have gained during the past 30 years in the ICT industry. I look forward to drawing on the forum's collective wisdom on technology issues. Cheers! |

Hello everyone, i just want to thank everyone for posting all that incredible info!!!!! I have found some very helpful. I do however have a problem with my daughters Compaq Presario C500. We went to replace her RAM and when we turned the computer back on it only displays the Compaq screen in black back ground with two alternatives at the lower left hand corner. Press Esc or Press F10. We have done both and we can't seem to recover the computer. Talked to Compaq/HP and ordered the Recovery CD. This was too simple of an error on our behalf to create such a catastrophy. Please anyone with any info to help us would be greatly appreciated. Once again it was just changing the RAM. Thanks again.

Hi, I'm Michelle. Been with PCs since the 1980's and used to work at a computer store. So am not exactly a newbie here but always a thirst to learn something new, especially on ways to fix my PCs for free.

Just one post above, Michelle, so I guess you are not the only one :-p There are plenty of women members I am sure. The nature of this forum is such that while many of us assume there are only or there are far more men than women, even if we are completely wrong, there is no way to be certain. Genre is irrelevant when you are either fixing a PC or fragging opponents.
