IRC-----> mIRC-?wtf?
I have never used IRC, so I decide to fianally bite the bullet and install it to check it out-
So I go to the website (mirc.com) and see this---
"What is mIRC?
To use IRC you need a small program like mIRC, an IRC client for Windows, written by Khaled Mardam-Bey. mIRC is a friendly IRC client that is well equipped with options and tools. mIRC is shareware, which means that you can download mIRC and try it out freely for 30 days to evaluate it. If during, or at the end of, the evaluation period you decide that you would like to continue using mIRC, you must register your copy."
WTF??? you have to PAY to use mIRC on an ongoing basis?? wtf? Someone please tell me I am reading this wrong or tell me how to use IRC without having to register and pay-- If you have to pay, that's BS.

I guess I'll download it then- I've waited long enough- I guess I need to start using it- I feel like I'm missing out on something.

As far as I remember it doesn't lock you out after 30 days anyway, it just lets you keep on using it.

Something does happen, but it's mostly harmless. When you start your unregistered copy sometimes the program will open an IE window (or default browser, don't know exactly) to mirc.co.uk. Close it or ban it from hosts file completely if it's too annoying

Oh oh oh, ok- I was thinking about something else entirely- Nope I'm on WinXPpro- so I'll try out the Birsirc. I've never once installed an IRC client on any machine- ever- So I'm a complete newb at it-
But I did find some interesting reading about it here- http://www.irchelp.org/ -after I did a google search. Seems pretty simple, but risky if you get unlucky.
