I Am Legend
Watched the movie last night and was very impressed. It's an interesting take on the zombie movie. Pretty scary stuff if you try and put yourself in his situation.
I remember the original "Omega Man", but don't remember liking it as much as this one. I'm even inclined to read the book now. One thing's for sure, someone needs to take something like this and make a really good video game out of it. Around the lines of an FPS/Survivial Horror/RPG. Would almost be like STALKER, but in a big city, and without the stupid radiation spots. Exploration, secrets to uncover, cool vehicles, traps, zombies, there is so much there to make a great game.
Anyone else see the movie? What did you think?

I haven't seen it yet, but I have seen the two movies with the same story that came before it (one in the 70s and the other in 50s or 60s.)
I will see it, though from what I understand it is just a remake of them.

the film is ruined by the ending which made it to the theatrical release. the alternative and original ending is the best. if you look it up on youtube its there. makes a lot more sense to me and is much deeper on a humane level.
YouTube - I Am Legend Alternative ending
Obviously if you haven't seen the movie do NOT click that link !

Agreed about the ending. The link you posted is honestly exactly the way I figured it would end, giving a bit more humanity to the monsters, I was surprized by the one that made it into the movie.
I give the producers credit for making NYC look the way it did. I thought that was very impressive.

I agree... the youtube ending was much more impressive... Just another Movie with a good atmosphere that was let down by the ending.
I presume a Directors Cut edition might be released in the future.

I actually went to see I Am Legend in theatres before I'd heard about the "alternate" ending, and left with the feeling of "wtf happened at the end..." Was quite happy when I found out about the ending afterwards.

The Blu-ray release lets you watch the film straight through with the alternate ending.

Movie wasn't that great, first half was good at least. I've seen the alternate ending and didn't like it much more but at least it explained why the zombie guys were so intent on getting him. I picked up the book and read it (very short read) which only illustrates how dumb the movie was in not explaining anything to us just loads of eye candy.

i definately agree that the alternate ending worked better, it was what i expected would happen in the actual movie… there was constant hinting of humanity &intelligence throughout the whole movie that some dim-wit exec didn't catch, so he probably didn't understand the ending…
definately not your average zombie movie

They were both optimistic, just in a different way. I found the ending to be good and very clear and optimistic about curing the people. The alt ending felt more natural cause of all the hints throughout the movie, but also optimistic that people either cured it or that even if they failed, the sick people were still people, ,just different.

I've not read the book or seen the alt ending. As far as I was just another attempt at a zombie movie. The zombie genre is pretty hard core now a days so you better come to the table with something really good if you want your movie to make an impression on anyone. This movie didn't do that.
Will Smith did a great job in his role as being slightly crazy due to the solitude. The CGI lions were just stupid & not very well done IMHO.
I the ending *blah* but trust an exec to not put a bad ending on a movie when good one exists.
Worth renting once it comes off the new release shelf & you can do so for a $1...

I don't feel it was "another" zombie movie on any level at all - there was actually quite a lot happening under the surface | |
