I can't conceive of how an ass warming is a bad thing.... damage? wtf? how....
It's not like they beat the shit outa me... lol
The fact remains... your only told once.. if you ignore it.... then disapline comes around...
In public.... as an example..... screaming my head off for no damn good reason, i was told to shut it ....... if i didn't... a swift kick in the ass....
problem solved...
It WAS common around here..... and without it now... all this "go to your room, your grounded, no tv for you, i'll count to 10" bullshit.. ISN'T working.. period.... and it never fully will.

I think that plenty of people could be fine parents...it just seems like people are forgetting where their priorities lie.

I think you nailed it, really. Many parents forget that once you have kids, your previous life is a memory. I think they do see their kids as an obstacle, either to their careers, or to their ability to do everything they want. These are the parent who let their kids do whatever, because they don't want to be bothered.
These are the ones that need to realize it's time to grow up. You're not yourself anymore, you're someone with dependents. If you can't deal with it, maybe you shoudn't have had kids in the first place.
This is precisely why I think not everyone should have kids, get married, or even have a dog. If having to live your life for someone else doesn't appeal to you, admit it, and make decisions based on that realization.
Thats not to say you can't have personal goals/ambitions/hobbies. But they almost always have to take a back seat, should the need be.

And Mousey sorry man I gotta disagree with you. Your parents wanting to know where you are all the time and making you carry your phone with you? Big deal. You still got to go out. And honestly I think parents SHOULD do that. They should let their kids go out and a lot of times do what they want to do...as long as they tell their parents who they're with and where they're going. Its a safety thing. Its not even a matter of trust. Say you're walking along with friends late at night and someone snatches you or beats the crap out of you for your money or whatever. It'll be a LOT easier searching for you if they have an idea of where you are and who you were with.
|
Again, i disagree.
My parents wouldn't let me go ANYWHERE, going past the end of the friggin road made them go ape shit.
And besides that there aren't any threats round here, the area is populated by old farts... There's no chavs, there's hardly any other kids about (i know all the ones there are) and if i went anywhere without telling them i was grounded for like a month

Just as well im not in charge of the government, I would bring back castration. sick b@stards.

not defending the gang raping of the woman .... but why did she have/allow a group of men in her house that is asking for problems
my biggest complaint is political correctness i am not a racist or a bigot .... but why does it seem the indigenous population are being treated as second class citizens in our own country compared to inter lowpers ??
i do not regard myself as Br*tish and i never will for that matter, but you sassenachs seem to have much bigger problems than us in regard to this sort of stuff
kids under the age of 16 know they can do as they please and they will recieve no real punishment for their actions .... bring back the belt and cane for a start so teachers can regain control of their unruly pupils ... the belt never harmed me

I am not sure I agree with you about the games thing, sure some games are graphically violent but it hasnt give me the urge to go out and harm people in the real world...... and ive played my fair share of them however as im older and more mature I guess this might be a part of it. When I was a kid my parents monitored most of the things I did and you know, while i hated it at the time I respect them now for all the effort they put into raising me.
Its up to the parents to stop their kids from playing overly violent games or watching violent movies. I mean ive seen hostel, and I wish I didn't and im 37 years old, that movie made me feel ill. If I saw that when I was 12 years old I think i would have had to have therapy.
the standards of parenting has gone right out the window. I firmly believe that this as well as dysfunctional family life is the root of a great many of these problems.

My parents used to whip my ass for things I did wrong. Im glad they did. I think it might have saved me. Im no angel for sure, but I think it is what is needed to keep us in line. If you know something is going to happen for your actions you might not actually do the wrong thing. I am using the Bible to raise my daughter and we keep a close relationship with each other which I think is important as well. She is not perfect either but she knows whats right and what is not. Im sure people can have a real chemical imbalance that goes hay-wire or with drugs or something of the nature that we have not much control over. Its too bad for this woman, I feel saddened by things like this and there needs to be something done thats for sure. Its too bad this story could not have ended with something good like "children saved their mom from attackers". Sometimes even though its not right you want to be a vigalante.

Over here in the UK people used to be taken to court and put under arrest for defending their homes from burglars.
There was a classic example of a farmer that got to his wits end with people breaking into his shed (this is in the uk btw, so this bit doesn't make much sense to me) but he somehow got hold of a shotgun and sat in his shed one night waiting for a group of thieves.
When they arrived at the door he let 2 blasts off, crippling both of the burglars. I think he killed one of them, and he badly crippled the other. The one that managed to get back to town screamed that he'd been shot by a crazy farmer and that he "hadn't done noffin".
The farmer was arrested but i can't remember much else about that story, does anyone else know the specifics?
There's new laws in the UK now about using "reasonable force" to defend your home from attackers. But this raises my next ethical point, wtf is reasonable force? Quite frankly if there was a criminal in my home who had willingly forced open an entry and was attempting to steal my belongings and most likely try to hurt me, beating the living shit out of them would be perfectly justified imo.
Now i'm only 15 so i'm sure this opinion's gonna change sooner or later, but who's with me?

sorry i thought you were english Zardon .... technically yes .... but i don't deal in that sphere ... the Snp is on the rise and the unionist parties are in decline in Scotland it is only a matter of time before we become a independent nation once again ... our religous cack is based around the two main Scottish football clubs Celtic & Rangers .... outwith this sphere religion plays little part in Scottish lifestyle these days as 30% of the country regard themselves as Athiests .... TCOS and Catholic church numbers are falling every year

i wholeheartedly agree with everything you have posted young man ... you seem a very sensible young lad for your years
personally i would bring back the death penalty (Hanging) for murders or attempted murders and i don't care what the do gooders/handwringers think the guilty must be seen to be punished

That's perfectly viable in my honest opinion.
Hell, if were to move to a country like saudi-arabia we wouldn't just be ignored by the government, we'd be shot and killed in the streets, why do we accept people who don't share the same mutal respect for us?
And funster, my ex gf said i had an IQ higher than my sperm count, must be why i think with my brain not my bell end

Thanks for the reply Kris, for a 15yr old you certainly seem to have a very mature head on your young shoulders.
Although it may have read as such, I certainly wouldnt wish to completely screen my children from all the worlds woe's, since as you point out in your post, children will rebel against an enforced rule. Ive seen it time and again where kids have been denied access to certain things, only to end up ignoring their parents and going right off the deep end. I think your right in what you say, children need to be exposed to certain things (not all obviously) and so long as they are monitored and understand any consequences etc, should come into adult-hood unscathed.
As far as beating or slapping a child goes, neither myself or my partner believe that any form of physical punishment will ever be required to bring our children into line. I have a collegue here at work who was telling me that his daughter (6yr old) was in trouble for something, he couldnt understand why she kept doing the same thing over and over, the last time he punished her he said he slapped her legs so hard, his hand was hurting!! It makes me feel physically sick to think of the pain that poor girl must have been in. Unfortunately, I think he's now finding himself in a position where she has been raised on this kind of behaviour, and it simply isnt working. In our house we have a naughty step. If one of the girls is out of line, and it has to be very out of line, they are warned, then warned again, then made to sit on the step in the hall, away from any kind of stimulation at all, for a couple of minutes. TBH they hate this with a passion, and just the threat of it is enough to sort them out, but you have to be prepared to go through with the threat for the process to work. But here's a tipp for any prospective parents out there, for God's sake, dont make the naughty place the childs bedroom. You will never get them to bed again without a fight. A bedroom should be a haven, and escape where a child can go and be happy, not a naughty place!!

dont worry..... as little humans they will naturally be self-centered, it seems to be some kind of animal instinct for survival that hasn't quite died off yet..... but as they gain mental capacity and awareness....consciousness, they will grow out of it, if the need for change arises anyway.... but the environment alone is enough for that.
be sure to supervise the kids and pay attention to them, as long as they don't get any "peculiar" ideas in their head, they should grow up fine. and whatever you do..... make sure they don't look at anything like porn...block all your channels or even better, unsubscribe them... ive seen some girls grow up into some seriously horny ass bitches (just making a point here) from being exposed to that before they could understand it..... thats like a Pandora's box for females pretty much around here, most of them all got STDs now.... there even was one last year that kept on trying some weird shit with me, didn't let her because i was concerned about my own health.....she got expelled for posession of a quart of vodka, so yea just a little obstacle you should be VERY wary of with kids at their age. the above is worst case scenario.
once they get to their teens, theres gonna be nothing but drama, especially if they are to attend public schools. you may need to be a little rough in their childhood, but this is the time where they need completely understanding and cool-headed parents.
i like how you are dealing with them right now, pretty good. but just in case they don't care about that punishment anymore, have a worse one ready, just don't break any toys, as a kid, i remember i was heartbroken for days because my parents broke my, i think it was a Batman action figure. if they treasure any toys or something else, dont do anything like that. doing such an action is really the nail in the coffin for absolute fear and anger against the oppressor for the kids, EXTREMELY hard to undo.
like you said, a bedroom is a haven for them, hell the house should be a haven for them too but thats not always the case with some if the parents have a role in a problem or are another all together.
lol i remember when i wanted to stay up late, now i dont as much. i say just let them stay up and wake them up at normal time, get a very, very loud alarm clock. should be fine, if they hate feeling tired, they'll go to sleep earlier on their own, or if they are determined to stay up late, well what can you do?
as long as they get 8 hours of sleep, there should be nothing to worry about
on i side note, im 16 now as of March 7

hehe, it would need to be a fog-horn I think. Mrs Wil_to_be took the girls away at the weekend whilst I was on my stag do, at the hotel they stayed in there was a fire alarm at about 1am, Caz said it was SOOOO loud she leapt out of bed. The girls never even twitched
And Happy Birthday from last week. Its mine on Thursday

you should see the big shit that happens around here man/.... whole streets are plugged up in the big bashes.

to get back to the topic, id go to slavery as punishment, not residential but under the control of law enforcers. nothin like a good old fashioned pay less worker. i dont consider it cruel or unusual, but it does strip them of dignity.......
