Roy Scheider, a two-time Oscar nominee best known for his role as the police chief in the blockbuster Jaws, has died.

The 75-year-old actor died at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock.

The hospital did not release a cause of death, but spokeswoman Leslie Taylor said Scheider had been treated for multiple myeloma at the hospital's Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy for the past two years.

I recall All that Jazz, a wonderful movie and a memorable performance by Jessica Lange, he was damn good and won of the best.

I mostly remember him from that tv series with the helicopter and the Seaquest DSV.

He rocked in Jaws and Blue Thunder but I'll remember him most in Seaquest DSV.

I love Jaws, and remember The French Connection fondley. Always thought he was a great actor, though it was difficult for anyone to see him as anything other than Sherrif Brodey.
