Fries, pizzas, burgers and chicken
Been a few threads recently asking about your favorite fast food so I was interested in how many people regularly cook and eat real food.
I only cook with fresh herbs and spices. So for pasta I'll be chopping oregano, thyme etc and when doing spciy food I'll be chopping and mixing all my spices. Try to use only fresh ingredients, vegetables and to avoid any prepared foods. Sometimes when I'm out with friends and go to pizza hut or somewhere I will pull out a small knife, some herbs, tomatoes and addd some additional flavor to the pasta or pizza to improve what they have put in front of me and create a more Italian product. (I do appreciate that this maybe a bit extreme but hey wtf)
Anyone else eat real food?

Cereals nice but eggs, bacon, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms and bubble is far nicer. (only twice a week though as too many eggs bad for the heart). Mmmmm...cooked breakfast...prepared by a good woman is even better...
In fact any cooked food prepared by someone else is the best
Huevos rancheros is probably the finest cooked breakfast of all imo.

I mostly buy those ready to cook meals, heat and serve, if I can't make it in 10 minutes or less it ain't gonna happen. The one food I really love but can't make at home is Pizza, it's totally beyond my skill to make a good pizza.

Being a confirmed bachelor for so many years, I rarely ever eat at home. If I do, it's either cold cereal and milk, or something I carried home to eat. Otherwise, I eat out and read the newspaper while eating.
Also, I DO know how to cook and everyone who's had any of my meals tells me what a good cook I am. I also enjoy using the grill for things like grilled chicken and maybe steaks. Hardly ever eat a hamburger as I tend to go with chicken or fish for my 'meat' dishes.
Cooking at home for just one's self isn't as rewarding as being able to share it with someone else.

I recently purchased the following:
a full case of "Kraft Dinner" (48 boxes)
A full case of "campbells Tomatoe soup"
A full case of "campbells Mushroom soup"
Hys Seasoning salt
4L of Homogenized Milk (3.25%)
A case of Vector Cereal (mmm damn good)
A case of Henz Ketchup (ultimate stuff)
A flat of Coke
And occasionally a fresh cut of Bologny, Ham, Salami, Roast beef....
And i pretty much have my daily meals of
Vector in the morning
Soup for dinner
Kraft Dinner for super
And perhaps once to twice a week, a can of coke durring the super.
Throughout the week i'll sit down with either a Kaluah, Vodka Paralyzer OR a Kaluah, Cherry Whiskey Paralyzer. (black russian or red russian style sometimes to)
That's pretty much my meals started as of this year..... (gotta run it cheap, cause i'm so far in dept right now.... i'm having a hard time working it over in my head lol)

i eat out practically all the time. i'm too busy to be at home cooking myself something. between work and school, both of which are full time, i hardly have anything to cook for myself. unless it's cooked for me, i won't eat a home cooked meal.

That is an affront your digestive system lol. It actually costs less to cook home-made food in the uk. For example, I can cook a dinner for two with fresh ingredients and takes about 30 mins to cook sauted chicken with a fresh spicy chilli pepper, mushroom and tomato sauce with rice and salad.

I rarely eat out, only when I'm away from home.
I like cooking my own food, but am on a student meal-plan this year, so the extend of my food making tends to be sandwhiches and salads.
I'm too health conscious to eat much crap, although I'm pretty sure what I drink is worse health-wise than what I eat.

I thought the same thing.
I'd same my wife and I are about 70/30 cooking at home to eating out. Just too expensive to eat out all the time. Even if I could do that it would still be mostly healthy food - sushi, grilled fish, baked chicken, good steaks, lots of salads & fresh veggies. Fast food has it's place due simply to taste but the bad side of it makes it totally impossible to eat all the time.
I'm pretty hard core offended at people that don't take care of themselves physically - smoking, excessive drinking, always eating poorly, lack of exercise.... I'll really be happy when the day comes that health insurance companies (for those of us in countries with a working, capitalistic health system & not some piss poor government run excuse for a health system) start chargin really high fees for people that won't agree to semi annual fitness exams or that do & are grossly unhealthy & give huge discounts to those that do comply & are in top shape.

That would be country, not countries, there is no developed country other than the US without state run healthcare.
However, this is probably my biggest problem with government run healthcare, in that even though I go to the gym every day, don't smoke, eat healthily, etc., I pay the same amount for healthcare as someone who never exercises, smokes heavily, etc.
But seeing as how I still pay less in taxes for healthcare than I would in the US, that doesn't look like a solution to what I want either.

According to the last adjusted World Health Organisation rankings on world healthcare systems the US is 16th, Ireland 17th and the UK 18th. This is out of 19 industrialised nations. Sweden tops the rankings. I also believe that Cuba has one of the best healthcare systems in the world but was not included in the league table as Cuba is not considered industrialised
But back to food, I just had saltfish, ackee, plantain, rice and peas. It was . Caribbean food is great. I've got a friend who sends me sorrel petals in 1lb parcels from Jamaica so I can make my own sorrel to drink (and mix with rum on the days I'm not working). I also make my own home-made horchata (rice-drink from Mexico) which is a most enjoyable drink on a hot summers day.

Problem with that, especially since everyone pays their own medical bills in the US Would be that sports-related injuries would be on the rise methinks. And how would it be decided who's a fat ass and who's a fitness freak? Would it be classed by BMI+ Weight or what?
And what about people with dangerous hobbies like me?
I reckon i'd be stuffed for hospital bills if i lived in the US XD

I've just been discussing this down the pub. The UK system has a major flaw. While it is offers a quality service to those who genuinely live below the poverty line it also encourages people not to work hard for their money and to 'freeload' off the state.
