blown503 will become famous soon enough

riaa is the iraqis of the future war...

The New York Times reveals the record companies are preparing a program called "silent", which "Locks up a computer system for a certain duration - minutes or possibly even hours - risking the loss of data that was unsaved if the computer is restarted," the Times tells us. "It also displays a warning about downloading pirated music."

They will wish they never started this war......

Just heard about it as well... freaky, isn't it? The Riaa seems to rectify whatever means they can get to act against possible "pirates". It's not far off that they will command some "preventive exections" of people who were supposedly trying to d/l their songs.

I genuinely hope they manage to infect someone who cares enough to take it to court, and the RIAA will get their asses handed to em on a plate for this sort of illegal quasi-vigilante activity...

When are the music --and to a lesser extent-- software industries going to realize that this adverserial approach is the wrong approach? Would you burn a CD off of somebody if it were $5? Of course not. Would you download a game if it cost $20? Probably not.

The problem is not that people have this insatiable urge to pirate; the products just cost too damn much.

I still haven't bought a single CD of a band that I haven't been able to download and try out first... and I've bought hundreds of $$$ worth of music now I would only stop buying if I was continually treated as if I was a guilty party to something for no reason - if I'm going to be assumed guilty until proved innocent, why not just be guilty and get the full measure out of it?

I live in a place where I can't find the music I want. The music shops are packed with lame ass music and the new and hot alternative bands are nowhere to be found. What am I supposed to do? I can't even listen to samples... The system does not offer me a better way around my insatiable desire to listen to stuff that's usually not featured on airplay and in shops.
