New member Hello!
Very pro site you have here, nice mix of pure tech and wacko fun
I have 4 computers, all PCs, each with its own personality, which I continually screw up by trying to make them better. This process leads to fairly steady suffering, standard but sometimes creative obscenities, and a painful crawl up the PC learning curve.
Now, having failed dismally at mastering the challenges of software and fed up with the pre-manufactured limitations of Dell, HP and the like, naturally I decided to build my own computer (#5) . Like flying the plane and reading the How to Fly a Plane manual at the same time. I'm spending way too much $$ but am also totally psyched about picking goodies out and trying to fit them together. My wife doesn't know about the new machine yet so if I don't post for 7 days, send the geek police to my email address
Just looking for advice and some fun from those who have Been There/Done That

Welcome to DH. May you have a mostly painless experience as most of us do.
This is the wrong section of the forum I think, but I don't mind. :-p

I moved the thread in here since it's seems like Off-Topic material and it's non site feedback.

Welcome, lots o good info here for your Core 2 Quad, im sure. If you didnt purchase the items listed in you specs there, think hard about getting a 512 8800GT instead.

I remember on the first computer I built~I forgot to plug in the cpu fan. Luckily between the motherboard warnings and the graphical artifacts caused by the heat, I was able to shut down fast enough to have doomsday averted

Nope, it was a Pentium 3 500 slot 1. If it had been a Thunderbird chip I would've just left it on and fried some eggs and bacon.
