A SOCIOLOGY researcher at Brigham Young University has found that today's college students are much more accepting of pornography than their parents.John Carroll and his colleagues surveyed 813 students online. The results of the study show that almost all young men and nearly half of young women believe that viewing porn is an acceptable way of expressing sexuality. Only 37 per cent of fathers and 20 per cent of mothers that were surveyed agreed with the younger generation's prevailing attitudes.
Not too surprisingly, the study suggests young people might have been influenced by the easy availability of X-rated pornography on the Internet, even via wireless technology on handheld mobile phones.
"We're in an age of pocket porn," Carroll told USA Today.
Young men are still vastly more inclined to view porn than young women. The research found that 86 per cent of young men reported viewing porn in the last year but that only 31 per cent of young women reported having ever seen porn. Further, 20 per cent of the men said they looked at porn daily or almost daily, but only 3.4 per cent of the women said they viewed porn daily or weekly.
The article doesn't mention whether the Brigham Young study also surveyed generational differences in parents' openness in talking about sex with their kids, relatively broader factual sex education and heightened fears regarding sexually transmitted diseases in recent decades, or shifts in cultural attitudes about sexuality over the same timeframe.
So maybe its willingness to ascribe greater acceptance of pornography by young adults to the baneful influence of the Internet should be regarded with some salt handy. Brigham Young is a conservative Mormon university. And USA Today ain't Rolling Stone.

Dude, porn is weird. Why would you want to watch some ultra hairy guy put his "member" in some ultra skanked-out fake-tittied ho-bag? IMO, I think it's because deep down, most people aren't comfortable with their bodies or themselves, as well as unsure about getting a member of the opposite (or same) sex, so they convey that personal insecurity through watching two (or eight, depending on taste) people carry out some of the most disgraceful and demeaning behavior known to man. This applies to people who watch porn together for sexual exhilaration as well - I wish we had sex like that/I wish I looked like that.

I guess my girlfriend and I could watch porn together...if we wanted to laugh at horrible acting, bad editing and ass pimples for an hour. We'd rather just have sex. She wouldn't care if I watched it, but then again, I appreciate a woman who thinks it's a little immature to watch porn and who thinks it's HOT when guys are smart and read books. Real men can just have sex (a lot), whether it's with one or more partners. Other men (and women)...well, I guess you can go home and ignore the outside world that's chock full of REAL sexual experiences by the light of your computer screen. Do what you will - but seriously, porn is strangely addictive and extremely demeaning towards the animalistic sexual nature that has fueled the human race over the past 12,000 years.

I'm sure some caveman scrawled the first "pornographic image" on his cave wall, but one of two things happened - his cavewife was pissed, or his neighbors caught him wanking it through the cavedoor and he was socially awkward for the rest of his life. Keep it up, wankers...just more clam for the real players to dig into.

In an unofficial study, people that said they never watch porn and that they find it disgusting and they have much better time with their gfs and that people who do watch porn are from losers to, whatever, etc, usualy are either lying or still in the closet. Mostly the second.

That doesn't not necessarily include people who are against porn for the possible moral or legal issues behind porn.
